Couldn't agree more John! Bought the book first and then decided I needed the DVD and couldn't wait for it to arrive. Got it about a week ago and found it splendid also!

Starwars, yes. I loved his line in LWR..."these aren't the bikes you're looking for...move along, move along" LOL

Found this on Netflix:

"Ewan McGregor, the actor chosen by Empire magazine as one of "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time," was born March 31, 1971, in Crieff, Scotland. He was studying drama at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama when he was cast in the 1993 BBC series "Lipstick on Your Collar."
Two films for director Danny Boyle boosted McGregor's visibility: Shallow Grave and Trainspotting (1996). Notable work in The Pillow Book, Emma, Velvet Goldmine and A Life Less Ordinary helped him land the role for which he's now known around the world: the young Obi-Wan Kenobi in the second Star Wars trilogy, which began with The Phantom Menace (1999). McGregor studied the films of Alec Guinness to nail his predecessor's voice and manner.

He sang with Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge!, played the young Albert Finney in Big Fish and did voice work for Robots (2005). His production company is called Natural Nylon."

Me thinks "Long Way Round" was his best work to date.....did his own stunt work.

Wow, incredible to the end. What a bike also. My wife even sat down and enjoyed it. I only own 2 DVD movies "On any Sunday" and Long Way Round. I recommend it but then again some people say I just ain't quite right.

We have had the DVD for a while. Our son ordered the european PAL version when it was first released last year. Now that they have released the original in the US they have released the extended version in Europe. We just received the 10 series version (extended) from Canada (Amazon.ca) in US NTSC format. We have friends who are heading to Mongolia and can't wait to show them the travel thru that beautiful country on Bikes!
The series is very interesting to watch and only a little coarse in language.

P.S. - Boorman is working on a second DVD - He entered the Paris - Dakar rally with a team and is documenting the event. The rally has just finished but Boorman went out in the middle with broken wrists. He stayed around to help in the filming.

It is available now, I just ordered it a couple of days ago from E-bay.
From what I understand the 2 CD set is the 7 episodes and the 3 CD set is the new 10 episode set

Sorry
a miss-interpretation of your question.
The Long Way Round CD, according to the computer geek at Best Buy
the 2 disk set came out in the US
December 12, the 3 disk January 6th/06,
that's pretty new and is what I thought you were referring to.
I have no knowledge of the other.

The "Dakar" DVD being produced by Boorman may be up to a year away. The adventure just finished this weekend.
The two "Long Way Round" DVD are available now. In the USA you just need to search for the extended version (3 DVDs). We ordered ours from Canada since it has not been released in the US yet. The standard version (2 DVDs) is readily available and should even be in rental stores as well.

Wow.. what a great film.. not the "classic", of "Easy Rider", but a fine, fine piece of work..

Thanks to those guys for taking time out of their lives to take us along...

My wife, also sat and watched the whole thing with me.. (well, okay, I used the "pause" button about 25 times...).
