Since I work for a school system that has the nerve to want to start classes the Wednesday after Labor Day, I can't attend the CCR this year.

However, I have gotten approval to take off the Friday before Labor Day! Sooooooooooooooooooo, I thinking about heading for the Finger Lakes Rally in Watkins Glen, NY.

Anyone else going?

I also have a hankering to take my LT out on the Watkins Glen Track! I found this on the on the Country Rode MotoWerks website:
Watkins Glen Track Ride

Saturday, August 30 @ NOON

Country Rode has the use of the Watkins Glen Race Track for a Charity Track Ride. The ride is 3 laps around the track which is approximately 10 miles with some challenging turns. Registration starts at 11AM at Watkins Glen Race Track Main Gate. Ride starts at noon promptly. This is a ride for fun and excitement not a competition. All CRM proceeds are donated to Alzheimer's Disease Research. Cost is $20/bike for the ride.

While I know it's not the same as a "real" track day but still could be cool!

Hey Rob

I also work for the schools(maintence) and we have a no vacation policy for two weeks after school starts so I am on hold till Sept. 14.

But my wife and I are heading up there in Oct., so if you go,give us a report.

And watch out for BAMBI.

I'll be there as a vendor, stop by and say hi at the Roadgear booth.
Wish I could go with you to the track but I'll be manning the booth by myself again this year. I have many race miles in cars at that place and it's one of my favorite tracks. The "toe of the boot" was always my favorite part.
Still remember going as a spectator in the 70's for the F1 races.........many found memories of the place.

One of the reasons I bought my LT this year was to ride around the finger lakes. I have made the drive in the truck several times and always thought how enjoyable it would be on bike.
Problem is I really have the heebee-geebeez still after hitting a deer. I wish I could get past that and make the ride. I'm sure it would be the highlight of the year for me..........
Some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen.

I can understand your reluctance, we really do need more deer hunters in this country. Maybe next year you'll be up to it. It really is a beautiful area and for the most part gets very little recognition. It's a great area for a bike rally. CCR, MOA, RA national anyone?

Very cool!!!!

Is this an annual rally? If so, I'll have to attend next year!

I'll be heading up that way in a few weeks - one last good ride before the winter! :bike:
