I recently bought an 06 R1200RT with the BMW Nav 3 system. I'd really like to hear the audio from the GPS, but I was told I can only get it using a helmet plugged into the bike's helmet connector. My bike has the OEM stereo system and I'd love to be able to hear it through the bike's speakers, but apparently that's not possible.

Anyone know of a way to route the GPS output to something so I can hear it without using helmet speakers?

Since what you are really asking is a way to wire the GPS in to the radio/amplifier section and not the intercom I think you are in for a big surprsie. Meanign, it's not really feasible. The only way I can see to do is is to find an adapter that plugs in to the CD Changer port on the back of the radio. And then, you'd only get the GPS when the CD option was selected. No musinc at all other times.

The only other method is a bluetooth headset as the Nav III supports BT outputs. That's the lease expensive and easiiest to accomplish, but still requires helmet speakers.

You could also rewire the exisiting GPS harness to go to an external apmlifier and alternative speakers, but I wouldn't want to go that route.
