After my local dealer charged 41.00 to change a tire.(off the bike and I bought tire from him) I would like to mount/balance myself. What are you folks using for equipment? thanx

Best Rest products bead breaker, tire pump, air pressure gauge, and dyna beads.

The ME880s are quite the bitch to remove and spoon back on though. It took my wife and I to do ours. Radial tires would be much easier.

I have a harbor Freight manual motorcycle tire changing station and use a NoMar Mount/Demount bar. I also use a Marc Parnes style balancer that works great. ;)

The ME880's aren't that bad. The Dunlops are worse.

I use the HF tire changer. Looking to get some good spoons to use instead of the HF bar (it works OK).

The biggest hint - if you are struggling or are using excessive force, you are doing it wrong.

Best Rest products bead breaker then mount the MC tire to a 14" car rim with rubber hose on the bead to hold the LT rim on. 5/8" bolt and wing nut hold the LT rim to the car rim.

Tire spoons and some RuGlyde tire lube to remove and install.

Beemer Balancer for balancing the tire

Like TBarstow said, if you fighting the tire you are doing something wrong.

Me too. I dipped the parts of the changer that contact the wheel in plastic coating. I also have a little collection of tire irons, rim protectors, and clamps.

Check out the videos at NoMar's web site for some good tips on demount and mounting. Especially helpful is keeping the bead pushed deep in the wheel valley when you're trying to get that last bit of tire mounted.
