I have the 1GB Ipod Nano Shuffle. I bought the Denison ice-link: plus but the connection on the cradle does not match up to the Shuffles (USB) connection which fits in the USB port on the computer. Has anyone else hooked up an Ipod nano shuffle to the ice-link and if so what did you use to connect the cradle to the Ipod.

Ah, now I see. The iPod Nano has a dock connector, but the iPod Shuffle just has a USB connector. So you're right, the Shuffle won't connect to the ice>Link Plus.

I'm sure you can use a different adapter (maybe Blitzsafe) to feed the Shuffle's 3.5 mm headphone port into the CD changer wires, but you wouldn't have any control. Then again, the shuffle is pretty much just play and pause, right?

It is. I may just go upgrade Ipods. I want the control feature and since I have the ice-link I am going to go ahead and hook it up. The Denison web site says the shuffle will work so I emailed to see if there is a different cable I can use. We will see. I will post something if there is a fix.

The IceLink DOES NOT support the iPod Shuffle.

It supports:

1G/2G iPods
3G/4G iPods
40 and 60 GB iPod Photo
iPod Nano

The iPod Shuffle is not the Nano

iPod NanoJeff, oh iPod guru...what's the largest iPod that does NOT have a harddrive in it?

And, how come you left out the 6GB and 20GB iPods off your list? Are those not supported by the ice>Link? Or, just because they're discontinued by Apple?

TIA

1G/2G and 3G/4G refers to the Generation of iPod (1G is the original 5Gb iPod, 2G came in 5/10/20 GB models, etc.). 40 and 60 GB refers to the size of the disk, in GigaBytes.

I suppose he could've called out the iPod Mini specifically.

Basically, if the iPod has a Dock Connector on the bottom, the it should work with the ice>Link Plus. So anything except 1G/2G (FireWire) and the Shuffle (USB) should work.

A good review of all iPod models can be found here (http://www.scoutingaround.com/computers/ipod/ipod_generations_old.html).

To answer Joe's other question:

The full size iPods and the iPod Mini (discontinued when the Nano was introduced) all use hard drives.

The Shuffle and the Nano use flash memory. The Shuffle is 512 MB or 1 GB. The Nano comes in 2GB or 4GB versions.

As a result, the largest iPod without a hard drive is the 4GB Nano. That's why I used up all my accumulated Best Buy rewards certificates and gift cards to buy one.

I like it but man, does it scratch easily.
