Well with the Rains today and the damage, Tom's BK New Years Day ride is cancelled.
But I'm still going to try and get a ride in to start the New Year and meet Tom for Coffee in Napa.

Meet at Eppies in West Sac NLT 0800
Coffee at Starbucks in Napa 0900

It's not suppose to rain until the afternoon but -
If the weather turns wet I plan on turning back and riding toward where the Sun is shinning. :sun:
I have started every year for the the 25 with a ride no matter how short, got to keep the streak alive. :D

John - If it isn't wet, are you guys going to head south to Alice's after your coffee break with Tom?

Cheers!

PS: I'm headed out for New Year's Eve so I'll check here tomorrow morning. Gary, let's keep our options open. I'd prefer to have breakfast at Alice's.

Bob, I'm going to skip Alice's. I don't want to be too far away if the floods repeat again Sunday afternoon.

It does look like the weather will close in on Napa early today - lots of the green stuff on the Radar coming in form the west.

But we have have some good riding time before it gets here in the Valley. I'll be at Eppies at 0800 for coffee and if anyone shows we'll go for a ride in the direction of the blue skys for a few hours.

Tom,
Looks like we won't be heading your way, stay high and dry..........

I have to agree on the weather. It doesn't look good. It looks like wet in about four hours and the winds are really gusty. Probably best to stay near home today.

We lost power three times yesterday and without power those four pumps required to keep my house dry don't work so good!:p

I bought an 8 KW generator that I should set up today instead of riding so that's what I'll do.

No, I didn't know about First Watch. I guess I'll have to find a reason to get over there! Thanks, Gary!

Cheers!

Hope some of you got in a few dry miles today. As soon as John posted that you guys wouldn’t be coming west, I headed out right away. The radar showed the “green” stuff a lot closer than mid-afternoon.

I rode 29 north to Oakville where I got my first photo for the 2006 Grand Tour season. http://www.bmwlt.com/gallery/files/2/6/5/8/HAT_Oakville.jpg

Took Oakville Cross Road east. It crosses both the Napa River and Conn Creek; both were full, muddy brown and moving fast. Turned south on Silverado Trail back to town. Lots of water flow debris and some flood damaged cars along the Trail.

Stopped by the Starbucks when I back into Napa just in case someone showed up. Someone did! Scott2002 came by to say he wished he could have gone today, but he had to work. By a little after 0900, however, showers had started. I grabbed a bit of breakfast and headed home. Short day but it was a New Year’s ride.

you two are better men than me! glad you got a few miles in.

i'm taking advantage of downtime to pop new brake pads into my rear calipers, along with taking down the x-mas tree.

Ride Report:

Three of us, Nathan, Jim and myself met at Eppies and had a quick breakfast. We headed for Pine Grove, since I'm signed up for the HUg a Tree Grand tour. Followed Hwy 16 and back roads upto Sutter Creek then cut over to Pine Grove on Ridge Road. Got my picture for the tour then we turned North through Volcano and over to River Pines for another tour picture. Turned West back to Plymouth for a cup of coffee. After Plymouth we headed back via Latrobe road and Hwy 50, went to the Hoppy brewery for Lunch and a beer.

This was the Sport Touring New Years Day Ride with Nathan on his ST1300, Jim on is R1200RT and My R1150RT. Total of about 165 miles all dry but about 10 miles of sprinkles on Hwy 50 - not enough to get wet. There was a little bit of wind here and there. Overall a great New Years day ride!

When I got home the power went out among the 50 mph winds just when I was downloading my pictures. So no pics for now - I'm at the Kids house typing this - they still have power.

Got my power back finally - Here's a shot at River Pines.
BTW - If you were wondering that the black reflective tape on the RT - really lights up with the flash.
