View Full Version : Paalo, this one is for you: Prime Ministers "shock" at knife deaths.

norriscooper
Aug 6th, 2008, 5:03 pm
"The Government will announce further measures to tackle knife crime on Monday following several knife-related deaths this week.

Speaking in a Downing Street statement, the PM said that he had been in contact with Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair and asked to be kept up to date on investigations.

Mr Brown said the stabbings are "shocking and tragic" and offered his condolences to the friends and families of those hurt.

He then revealed that the Government will be publishing the first ever cross-government youth crime plan later next week. The plan will contain new enforcement measures, improvements to sentencing, and a new approach to youth crime prevention.

"The terrible stabbings that have occurred this week are shocking and tragic, and my thoughts are with the families and friends of those who have been hurt or killed in these attacks.

"On Monday the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith will announce further measures to tackle knife crime, taking forward the approach we set out last month. Later in the week we will publish the first ever cross-government youth crime plan which we have been working on over recent months. It will contain new enforcement measures, improvements to sentencing, and a new approach to youth crime prevention - including tough parenting programmes targeted on areas with the most problems.

"We will continue to make absolutely clear that carrying a knife is unacceptable in our society.

"People prosecuted for carrying a knife are now almost three times as likely to go to prison as in 1997. Those prosecuted for carrying or using knives get far tougher sentences. Just in the last month, we have announced and put into immediate effect an end to cautions for knife possession, replacing it with a expectation to prosecute. We are also giving more money and equipment for police forces in key areas to do more stop and searches.

"I have spoken to Sir Ian Blair today about the situation in London, and I know the police are doing everything in their power to bring those responsible to justice. I have asked to be kept updated on any developments. I thank the police for their efforts, and urge people to give them any help they can."

I was in the UK a couple of weeks ago and on the evening news there was a spot on busting under-age purchasers of kitchen knives.

These are obviously not pocket, scout, folding, or switchblades but butchering knives.

Give me a .38 special any time! :D

I wonder what they will do after the criminal start using kitchen forks and razor knives?
Didn't the English outlaw weapons in Scotland for a long time? Well, that certainly worked out well for them..... :histerica SNP (http://www.snp.org/)

Four times more crime in Oslo than New York!

The crime rate in Oslo has been growing at an alarming rate and recent statistics show the Norwegian capital had 20 percent more robberies last year than in 2006.

While crime in the rest of Norway has been going down, it has been quite another situation in Oslo, where personal and automobile thefts increased markedly last year.

There were 10,600 crimes reported in public places in 2007, up from 8,000 a year earlier, writes Norwegian daily newspaper Dagbladet.

Oslo had the highest rate per person in Scandinavia in terms of reported crimes, with 90 reported crimes per 1,000.

Copenhagen had 50 crimes reported per 1,000 and Stockholm had 79.

In New York, there were 22 reported crimes per 1,000 inhabitants.

This means there were four times as many reported crimes per person in Oslo as in New York.

The Oslo police are blaming the increase on an influx of East Europeans, and Minister of Justice Knut Storberget is reportedly partly in agreement.

However, Storberget said it is necessary to be careful drawing parallels with such statistics. "But regardless, we can say the crime figures in Oslo are too high," he was reported to have said.

Yes, they are drawn to the wealth of the country.
Luckily they mostly gather in Oslo the capitol and keep away from the good places as where I live hehe

And it is political not correct to show that the "new Norwegians" people from the third world as Pakistan etc are responsible for most crimes.

Yup! I've been advocating a 10 ten waiting period on those EVIL "assault knives" for years. But the EVIL NKA (National Knife Association) has been blocking the people from being safe! Doesn't the National Knife Association know that the worthless big government hacks just wanna keep the little people safe from these poor, misunderstood, assault-knife wielding killers?!

You know, this plot almost sounds eerily familiar.....just can't quite get the place and time....

Jay,

Thanks for pointing that out. Clinton also acted like a King and moved the presidency further toward a the dictatorship role. His conservative, free market (NAFTA) and go it alone attitude paved the way for King George to hand the wealth of the country over to the elite class.

I do not think King George is "Evil W," in retrospect, I think he believes what he is doing is best for the country because Cheney said it was.

Insult free? First of all, conservatives/republicans have heard all these things at least a hundred times before. Maybe a thousand. It seems to me that you are using a broad stroke to put all c/r's in the same group. Many people are conservative because they have certain values, morals, ethics and principals that guide their lives. Some don't like Bush, some are indifferent, some are worse than you with their dislike. Most are 'over it' and are looking forward to the future.

And another thing, Norway has 4.7 million people. We have only two states that have 4.7 million people. That's Alabama and Colorado. We have 48 more states. There are more people in this country that still love Bush than several times Norway's population.

In defense of this sentence earlier from Paalao: "And it is political not correct to show that the "new Norwegians" people from the third world as Pakistan etc are responsible for most crimes." It reads to me that he is saying it's a bad thing to say about Pakistani's.

I agree and in fact I think we could compare the situation in Cuba just before the revolution as that of the USA now.
A leadership paid by the top 4% and corporations which is out to drain the common man for all his money.

And yes as I previous stated, the USA of today is what the USSR was back in the days, all the goods to the top guys with the masses to foot the bill.

Those on top of the "foodchain" will of course denie it while those at bottom are usualy so brainwashed that they dont even see it. The educated masses in the middle have knowledge to it and more and more see it, but lack of balls make very few of them speak out and unite against the system they are victims of.

"Norway; the land of dramatic fjords, stunning scenery, isolated fishing villages unchanged for centuries, the best medical care that oil money can buy ………and home to a growing Jihadist movement."

"Norwegian police have discovered that over 330 Pakistani taxi drivers, many of whom have already been charged with tax evasion in one of the worst cases of welfare fraud in the nation's history, have close contact with Pakistani gangs and operate as couriers of arms and drugs. In the city of Oslo it is documented that criminal Pakistani gangs also have close ties to Jihadist groups at home and abroad."

"The number of rapes in the Norwegian capital is six times as high per capita as in New York City, and it is well documented that certain immigrant groups are grossly overrepresented on the statistics. Two out of three charged with rape in Norway's capital are immigrants with a non-western background according to a police study."

"A shoot-out between two Pakistani gangs one crowded Sunday evening at Oslo's popular waterfront complex Aker Brygge left two men wounded. Newspaper VG reported that a policeman had to run for his life from an angry crowd of Pakistanis"

And so on.

I am not sure that reading the facts as they are make me an rasist, but if it does I would not give a ratts arce if I am a rasist based on this. :D

This line about sums it up. In the U.S. the propaganda networks are well established. NPR, FOX and CNN claim to be news stations but they are really just the voice of the elite.
In the U.S. there is a business section in all newspapers, but there is no labor section even though the working classes are the ones reading the paper? Most workers are disciplined to believe in a rugged individualistic fantasy which keeps them obedient and passive to their masters.
Ironically, it is the elites who practise idleness while preaching the goodness of hard work. They even go as far as linking work with deity to keep the proletariat labouring... sad, really sad.
