...or is a standard cord not compatible.
where I have my V1 hard-wired to my bike, I use a V1 coiled cord that is simply too long and sloppy. I would like to buy a 6" long phone cord if it is compatible (V1 sells a 3" straight cord that is too short).

I found this on the V1 site:
Making your own Power Cord
Valentine One uses standard RJ-11 (modular) telephone connectors. You can use any telephone cable (the one that runs from the wall jack to the phone) for a power cord.
Complete cables are available in many lengths at electrical or building-supply stores.
You can also make your own power cord using bulk phone cable cut to whatever length you choose. To attach the RJ-11 connectors, you will need a special attaching tool.
Bulk phone cables, loose connectors, and the attaching tool are available in most electrical or building-supply stores.
NOTE: The sequence of wires must be reversed from one end to the other.

Just another reason why V-1's are great.

I may take you up on that. I just bought a 5.25" cord at a hardware store. It should be just long enough...

Apologies for the really basic question, but how do you wire the other end of the cord to the bike? I'm not trying to wire into a com system or anything exotic, just trying to tie into my fuzebox. Thanks, Dave

The phone cord plugs into a small box that you have to buy from Valentine. This box has the positive and negative wires running from it.
