Looks like there will be a good "showing" of fellas! Since some of us missed the Eldridge Home Benefit Ride with Don, maybe we can get him to buy our lunch! We don't necessarily have to have steak, just something close to it!

I most likely will arrive the night before. They still serve Beer in HotLanta? :)

Dave, I do believe they do still serve beer in Atlanta. Now Brett, for you and any other McCallie boys hangin' around out there, a sleepover in this case will not include a snipe hunt, unless of course you want to. :D Dayem, do I have to be patrol leader again?:D

No snipe hunt? Crap! May not be worth the sleepover!

I will be there on Friday PM along with a couple of LT guys from Nashville. Last year we purchased our tickets from BMW of Atlanta - called ahead and they held them for us. The previous year we were in the 1/4 Mile line around the mall and wanted to avoid this.
Any one know of any discount specials??
Ranger6
Jan 1st, 2006, 10:38 am
Hey John,
You can also buy them on the Internet and print them off. That's what I did last year and it worked great. You're right...no way am I standing in that line again like I did two years ago. :(

I'm going to be there. Time for a RTE afterwards?Sounds like a good deal to me John. The question is, where can we get a big group in the door?? We had about 14 for lunch last year and they had a real hard time trying to seat all of us a Jock's and Jill's, IIRC. It took them almost an hour to get us a place. Maybe you and me need to do a scouting trip? ;)

Rules of the thread, Section 5, Rule 6b.. the first one to post about a event and mention lunch, buys lunch for everyone... I believe that would be you Brett...:)
See you there, usually do the night before somewhere, but snipe hunting near I 75/ 285 could be a challenge...;)

I would opt for staying at Galleria, last year or year before one, it rained and was cold or both, had to gear up to ride a mile or so then park again and ungear, store the gear or check it in at the show... Would be nice to park one time, stay, dine and attend the show...

How many rooms do you think they would need booked for some type of discount?
Best I could pull-up using every poorboy excuse I could imagine was 108 bones + 14% for the government. Also appears that they have a "no" cancellation policy, "To insure that you receive this special rate, we will charge your credit card a prepayment of 123.12 USD (your room charge plus tax for 1 night[s]) on January 3, 2006. You may cancel your reservation for no charge until January 3, 2006."

Because of the prime location, I'm not sure of just how much bargaining power any of us would have. You can bet your bippy that it'll be close to full with all the factory types because of the show.
pkpr1998
Jan 2nd, 2006, 9:43 am
Now Don, I think that you are making that stuff up! I believe the rule says that anyone who tries to "alter" the rule(s) regarding "who is buying dinner" (that is on page 600 row 2 line 3 of the manual) BUYZ the dinner!
Now, I would be willing to puchase my own lodging at the WAVERLY as long I can use Skippy's CC #! Wait, Don can tell his joke (the one he told those two gals in Doulgas, Wyoming) and get us a block of rooms with a big discount. Now, for those who haven't heard the joke (ASK DON) he got us a nice discount at the Best Western in Doulgas heading out to CCR!
So Steve and John, get with Don and get him to tell you the joke (for discount purposes) and let's see where the RTE takes us!
Don't get Skippy and Chipster upset, they have had a bad year. The Tennessee Vols are doing what they are doing; watching the bowl games on TV!

Hey Skippy, maybe we can get the Bama fan and Gator fans to have compassion on us and THEY can buy us dinner! LOL
I didn't know that the Galleria had a hotel! Maybe I should pay more attention; I've only been to the bike show for the past 6 years!
The Waverly is $ 135/night and the Sheraton is $ 90/night. The Sheration is across the street and the Waverly is right behind the Cobb Galeria (I think)!

Being in other MC clubs, I can already tell you that Jock n Jill's is not taking reservations at all this year. The COG goup usually has it's lunch there on the balcony, but no longer.

If this is the same show as the ones in the past, they have changed the dates from around Jan 18-20 to March. Anyone know why? Just curious. I'm planning on being there. :)

Same show as in the past. Several years back they held this show in March, then it was moved up to Feb, then Jan. I think it was moved to compete with the MC show over at the North GA Trade Center in order to get the first shot at the motorcycling folks . Possibly the attendance didn't work out as well and they have decided to move it back into March. I'll be there again this year.

But on Friday PM, wife and I went last year we were there an hour after they opened the doors and man it was nice, very little people you could actually sit on the bikes and have time to look around and take pics. Saturday is way to crouded. Sunday morning until noon is OK too after that it gets crazy.
But I will defenetly go on Friday PM.
Any of you guys want to squeeze a ride up the "Loop" (19/60/129/19) after the show let me know I will probably be riding all day Saturday since I will have covered the show on Friday.
Oh and yes if any of you guys have issues finding a place to stay, give me a call I am in Cumming, I will say 35 to 40 miles from the show, but will be glad to put someone up if an emergency arrives. 404-210-4065

Mebe, but it is connected under roof to the exhibition area, making for convenient attendance at the event that morning without having to don riding gear until you're ready to ride home.

I knew the Sheraton was connected but did not know that the Embassy was connected to the Cobb Galeria.

You are correct. The Sheraton is connect to the Galleria and not Embassy Suites. In the near vacinity are Hampton Inn & Suites, Fairfield Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Homewood Suites and several others. I think some of the others will give you a better rate than Embassy Suites.
YMMV.

Maybe y'all saw the picture of Fred Zust (head of sales at Touring Sport BMW) and his L'il Red Bike, an airhead BMW cafe racer, on p. 39 of the Mar. 2006 BMWMOA magazine. Fred's been asked to take the L'il Red Bike to the Cycle World show in Atlanta, GA later this month. His bike will get there (from Greenvul, SC to Atlanta) inside my Chariot enclosed trailer, so he can spend time detailing it and be sure it'll arrive in spotless condition. Don'cha just love enclosed trailers ??? :D In exchange for the favor, Fred has supplied me with two freebie tickets to the cycle show.
Don't know where the L'il Red Bike will be on display at the bike show, but Fred will be helping to man the Vespa scooter display.
Give the L'il Red Bike a look - it's even prettier in real life than in photos. Find Fred (look for the bald head) at the Vespa display and say hello. Fred has his 300,000 mile medallion from BMW - he's a rider and a nice guy.
