Ok, bought my j-pegs yesterday and looked at the instructions and there aren't any pics and I need pictures. Any time I have to drill holes thru things I want to make sure it is right. I installed the technik luggage rack and had no problems, but I had pics. Has anyone posted any pics of the install that may help me. I did see some posts about the install and using a dremel tool (don't have one yet) and some of the problems people have had with the bearings and springs.
Thanks all

Should of gotten the Highway Ottoman's. (My preference) easy bolt up and more versatile than the J pegs. plus cheaper.(maybe thats the reason I like them LOL) I've had mine for the last 20,000 miles and have not looked back.

You should have gotten a template with the J-pegs to mark the black covers for the cutouts. When I installed mine, I marked the center per the template for the large hole and drilled a smaller hole than required. With the bakup plate already mounted on the bike, I repeatedly slipped the cover back on and tried the fitup, marking the area that needed to be enlarged for the pivot point. Take your time and it should work out Ok. I just used a utility knife to enlarge the hole, but a dremel would probably be easier.

I bought the xtended J-pegs and really like them. Considered the ottomans, but really didn't like the looks of them on the bike.

Here is the template (I hope).... Ok, that didn't work... If you need the template, send me a PM with your email address....

Just go slow with the dremel and you'll be fine...

I just didn't really like the looks of the ottomans either. I just need a change of position sometimes on the long trips. Instead of hanging my legs straight down which is not the brainiest idea.

Using the paper template that came with the J-Pegs, drill a small hole then a little larger pilot hole. I used the Dremel tool to get the holes to the exact size needed. It made for a neat job. You'll have to dry fit it a couple of times before you get the holes the right size.

A critical suggestion: Add enough grease to the hole for the spring on the mounting plate to hold the ball bearing in place when installing the J-Peg. The instructions stress this and be sure to do it. Don't put the bearing in one of the J-Peg detent holes and try to fit it into the spring hole.

I know this sounds confusing, but when installing open the J-Peg so the flat surface on the J-Peg depresses the bearing into the spring hole.
