From the KonTour Seat skunk works: A seat designed specifically for riding in HOT and HUMID weather: Polar Mesh. :wow:
We recently spent several days testing this new concept at Furnace Creek in Death Valley (one day was enough..) in ambient temperatures up to 124F. It just plain works. :yeah:
Our standard design seat using our luxurious perforated Alcantara suede fabric is well known for supplying an ample amount of fresh air under your butt. We've kicked it up several notches to provide a literal "air curtain" as you ride.
This 100% polyester mesh was designed especially for us by one of America's foremost fabric mills. It features hundreds of thousands of individual fibers that are twisted and knitted together to form an incredibly tough, durable top cover that is extremely UV resistant and will NOT absorb water. 6mm (1/4") thick, it cannot be compressed and allows an AMAZING amount of air flow under your butt. Hot, damp conditions are perfect for promoting skin maceration (tearing) which causes the dreaded monkey butt. The massive amount of fresh air flow Polar Mesh allows completely eliminates this condition.
In addition to the Polar Mesh top cover there is a layer of barrier fabric underneath which is vapor deposited aluminized polyethylene. This barrier completely waterproofs the seat since there are no seams or stitching. When it rains, water drains through the mesh, onto the barrier fabric and out the sides of the seat. It also reflects 90% of infrared heat to keep the foam cores cool. Even sitting outside in bright afternoon sun the surface is cool to the touch. The standard KonTour visco elastic foam composite layers which are individually built to each customer's weight rounds out the incredibly comfortable cushioning.
A wind cover is included when you want to continue riding into the cool months, and if you have OEM heating in your seats this cover will allow you to retain that feature. Polar Mesh seats are unconditionally guaranteed to the original owner for life - and this includes UV exposure!
Polar Mesh - only from the cold, twisted minds at KonTour Seat. ;)
