Just a note to anyone interested: used the BS Batalax 021 radial on the front. Very nice tire, but completely worn out at only 2,500 miles. Air pressure monitored regularly, did run low once, but not long. I do ride aggressively, but didn't think I'd go through the tire that quickly.

I also noticed my Batalax 021 (front) wearing fast (worn out) on the front of my LT. Checked and just over 5,000 miles: have couple of long trips left this summer and was not planning on a new front tire. I also watch my air pressure and ride pretty easy through the turns.

I confirm the low mileage on the 021. My 07 LT got approx 9000 KM (5600 miles)on the tire. Always run at 42psi. Sevre cupping and very poor tread wear. I won't be running any more 021 tires on my bike.

Just wondering why any of you chose the BT021 over the bias ply BT020 which is still being made and supplied by BMW on new bikes? Just an inquiring mind.

Mine was installed by the dealer. I was expecting an 020 bias but they installed the 021 and said it was the replacement for the 020. Wont listen to that dealer about tires again :(

Is the 021 load rated for the LT.

On the front yes, not sure about the back. I don't reccomend them for the LT I was never really happy with the handling of them.

I went out and checked my old 021 and the new ME880. Both are stamped 79V, meaing 963 pounds and 149 MPH. Unless there's more to it than that, it's good. I did like their handling, just not the low miles. I've drug eveything I have under the LT with both tires, and both do fine.

Here's the Official Bridgestone website: http://www.motorcycle-karttires.com/index.aspx
I'm currently waiting here in Vegas for a replacement tire so I can get along my way home to Long Beach, Ca.
My rear BT020 experienced a (delamination?) or as the BS Tech (via email) called it, a Running Flat, which, he claims is due to running the tire with low tire pressure.
I don't have time to deal with the warranty on this right now, but do plan on investigating things once I return home.
Knowone has a BT020 available, so I'm having to get a BT021, which by the way is radial.
Supposidley there was a Bridgestone Rep at the 06CCR in Atlanta whom made the statement that he feels all tires should be getting close if not 10K, and if there were any problems experienced with their tires, he wanted to know about it.
I have an email out to Randy to get that information now.

Be careful. I don't think the BT 021 is load rated for the LT. The front is but not the rear. Good luck.

FWIW, these tires suck on the FJR too.

Well one thing is for sure, when passing emails with Bridgestone this morning, I advised them I was going with an 021 and nother other comment was made other than to increase the tire pressure from 42 to 46.
I need something to back home on and cheap. Later I'll work out the gritty details and go for a full set, and if the 020's are no longer available than I'll likely go by way of M880's.
I wanted to go Mich, but in researching, find out the compound is so soft, you won't even get 5k from them.

Spoke to Service manager at "Irv Seaver's" in Orange Ca. and was told I was "lucky" to get 6K on my front! He said 5K was the average life for Bridgestone on the LT since "that's not the correct tyre for it," despite the manufacturers recommendation.
His Metzler price is "ONLY" 15% + Parts Unlimited.
Guess I'm going to San Diego from now on since the attitude matched the price!

Well I've got exactly 4400 miles on my '09 LT and the BT020 front tire is already cupping. Wear on the rear is about what I'd expect for the mileage. I run 42psi up front and 48psi in the rear. I must say I'm more than disappointed. Hell I'd be happy to get just 1/2 the life I get on the front tire from my Road King. Which BTW was 16,000 with no cupping. This sure doesn't seem right to me.

The question really is: do you ride the LT the same as the Road King? If you do then the tire wear isn't right, but I think you don't and that by pushing a nearly 900 pound machine through the corners will shave a tire quite substantially. I'm jus' sayin'
:)

Actually I do ride them about the same. The Road King is a lot more flickable and steers lighter but the LT is more stable in high speed sweepers. Living in the flat lands of Louisiana my front tire wear looked normal for the first 2500 miles. Then I took a trip to Arkansas and rode the twisties for about 3 days. Now I have cupping on the front tire. I'm no peg dragger when I ride. Go figure.
