I guess there is one thing you can say about me and Mr. Pie . . . we know how to do things BIG. :D

Got a call from Harley late Thursday (just in time to start our holiday week-end) and it seems that the damage to the Ultra is . . . (drum roll please) . . . a whopping $17,100. :( In the words of the insurance company - "It is totaled!" Now in my head I am thinking that we had one expensive ride as we only had the bike for a total of 6 days AND had only been on it about 4 hours (1 hour earlier in the week and about 3 the day we wrecked). Crap, I would hate to see the price tag if it had been a really, really bad accident. The estimate blew both of us away!

The news just made me sick and worse than that my heart broke for Keith. Such a good deal for him down the tubes in a split second. As you can imagine Keith is not a happy camper at this point. He will be dealing with the insurance company on Monday and we are going for a second estimate hopefully this week. Please say a prayer for the whole situation as we are sure that insurance is not going to pay the loan in full which means Keith will have to come up with a lump sum to clear the loan. As I look at it, you cannot put a price tag on two lives and I am grateful that we were both able to walk away from the mishap with minor injuries. For now we shall crawl our butts back on the faithful Road King and ride off into the sunset . . . only problem is Mr. Pie no longer has a wonderful radio to drown out my talking. That might be worth $17,100 in itself! :histerica

Man - 17 large buys a lotta pie!!! ;)

I feel bad for Keith, too, Gina; and for you also. Glad you both had minor injuries, butt the psyche can sustain some too. I know you'll both bounce back after the dust settles and the insurance company does the right thang (ain't that what they're s'posed to do? ). Anyway, I'm gonna be real pleased to hear the Road King make a turn into the Hard 8 parking lot; it'll be one of those times I won't mind loud pipes!! ;) Ride safe, y'all.

For what its worth guys....I have the same thing going on here. Bought my K1200LT and only got 3 days riding on it before I hit the deer. Still no word on weather it is a total but I assume so as I was up near 70 mph with hundreds of feet to slide and grind.
I bought the bike with just over 1000 miles on it and 3 years old. Doubt they will cover the whole loan..
Crossing my fingers for the both of us now..
Good Luck and let us know how it turns out...

Here is my experience with my former harley dealer when I wrecked the Ultra. They wrote up every part on the bike that had a scratch on it, even the ones that got there naturally. They really over did it. They claimed they could not tell what happened in the accident and what didn't , so they write it all up. I was told it the damage amounts to 70% of the value of the bike, they total it out. Last time, hit a large dog, bike went down on both sides. Every painted part and the frame was replaced and it still did not total the bike.

Good luck. I am glad you weren't hurt more than you were.

Good luck to you (and Keith). I totaled my '05 with 3400 miles...but it was brand new and they paid every cent including the tax and full retail (more than I paid.) The thing that totaled mine was where the right 'tip over guard' attaches to the frame broke off the attaching 'tab.' They will not repair the frame.
