Was out for a walk yesterday with the dog and tripped on a raised concrete crack and went flying... The result is a broken right wrist that has forced the cancellation of my ride to Wyoming next week. Damn...I've been looking forward to that ride for months.

I need to wear a large formed splint for two weeks before hopefully going to a smaller cast. I'm not sure how many weeks I'll be off the bike. I'm still hoping to be able to ride to CCR, but won't know for awhile. That may be wishful thinking...

For now, I'll concentrate on figuring out how to take care of myself, house and home one-handed.

So..I'll be missing my cycling, but I'm still thankful it's not worse. They don't think I'll need surgery, but won't know for a couple weeks.

I guess I'll file this one away into the "What's Next" category!

More later...

Paul...
Welcome to the club.... Still no riding for me either... Maybe we should post a DTE (drive to eat) LOL.... Doesn't quit roll of the tongue does it..?

Take care of yourself.

Sorry for the break but glad it's not worse. Let us know how this develops.

well...still hoping it doesn't come to that! I've been to the last seven CCRs and don't want to break my string!

Time will tell...

So sorry to hear about your bad break. Your perspective being thankful it is not worse will serve you well. Heal well. A DTE is better than nothin.

But for the grace of God.

I took a spill walking the dog on Saturday on a concrete sidewalk but the most serious injury was to my pride. My wife was convinced I should lay there sprawled out until I was sure I wasn't hurt, my dog found it a good opportunity to give my face a good licking and it was early enough in the morning none of my neighbors were out to witness my gracefulness.

Hope you mend quickly and well and look foward to seeing you in Utah.

Thanks, Matt...seems that way sometimes...but I'll heal! Did you really get rid of Tarkus?

How 'bout posting a photo of the Duc?

Talk soon,

Matt

Yes, Tarkus is gone to a new home in Hudsonville. I'll see if I can get the digital camera I have fired up for a few pics. Then I'll see if I can figure out how to download the pics onto my PC. Then I'll see if I can figure out how to get them posted. Should be about this time next year

Hope your wrist is healing well and quickly.

A town that's equidistance from us is Butler, IN. Of course, I have no idea what's there. There's always Cousin's just north of South Haven. Good food and some nice riding/driving along the lake shore for afterwards. The eastsiders would have the longest ride- but then they'd be on LTs and just getting warmed up when they got there!

I have broken both my wrist's (not at the same time) and 6 weeks you will be good to go minus any surgery. Those are the bad ones, I know. Good luck with your recovery and get back on er'! ;)

Thanks for the encouragement, Steve. I'm hoping you're right!

Matt, I don't know a thing about Butler...but might suggest Angola as an Eastern Indiana alternative if it helps the Eastern Michigan or Ohio folks. Or even Lester's in Bryan,Ohio...if that helps even more. I'm familiar with Cousin's near South Haven...another good choice.

Now's the time to pipe in, Eastern contingency! Who's up for this Sunday, 7/13 for a RTE? Sounds like Matt and I are in for sure. If we don't hear anyone else's preferences, we'll just decide on a spot and see who shows.

Regards,

Matt

Sure would like to join in guys but the bike will not be repaired for a couple weeks and I could use another week myself before getting out and about too much..
Have fun and I will hope to meet you the next time around.

Wholly crap Paul...sorry to hear bout your wrist but like you stated, Thank God it wasn't worse!. Sounds like it will be healed enough to make the CCR but let me know so we can make or cancel our trip out there together.

Praying for the speedy recovery for you.

Hey Brian...mend my friend, and we'll get together soon.

Woody...I should know this week whether or not I need surgery. If I don't, CCR is a possibility...if I do, CCR probably won't happen for me.

I'll let you know!
