Just moved the original trhead to this one with the right name on it :)
As Ken (Messe) proposed, we are planning a Sunday ridding to Angeles Crest Highway.
Any takers?

Elton,
Sounds like a great way to start the year. It will be interesting to find out whether we're gonna need the Gerbings or not.
Now, the biggest problem getting Margaret to agree to the ride or let me out of the house. I have no problem with Angeles Crest. I've been wanting to do that ride for a while now.
I'll let you know in the next day or so whether I'm in or not. Eliane coming along for the ride?

Elton,
Margaret and I would be up for a ride on Sunday. And, I'm glad that Eliane will be with you. We haven't seen you guys in months.
Is Meese going to come along? It would be nice to ride Angeles Crest. However, the forecast on Weather.com indicates rain showers for Sunday. I'm a bit concerned about Angeles Crest with rain turning into snow or something worse.

Hey Guys,
Dayle and I are interested, if the timing works out. I suggested Angeles Crest as it is more in between y'all and us Ventura County folks. Plus we're not real early morning people, if we can help it.
We'll be in Orange County for a New year's party, and I figured we could take the bike down and be closer for Sunday when Dayle reminded me the party is formal dress. Kinda hard to do on the LT, so that means driving down, then back to Ventura, then back out towards Riverside Sunday morning on the bike.
So I'll continue to lurk and see how it pans out. Sure sounds like fun though.

Hi Ken,
We won't partying as hearty as you two. But, we will be partying so count on not early, at least for me. The bigger issue as I mentioned is weather. The forecast does not sound promising. Keep your fingers crossed....

Is Dolor and his wife coming along?
No, they are in Brazil and will be back on Jan,16 only, when they will get their bike and will ride back to Brazil... (he sad something about the fee asked to shipp his bike to Brazil was too expensive, so they will ride it :) :) :) )
I'm not sure if you know Mike. He is the American guy who rode with us Brazilians to Alaska, last summer. I will invite him. Not sure if he will go yet.

The weather says PM showers for Sunday.
What time would be a good time to start our ride and where?
(if still happens) :)

Looks like lots of cold and possible snow in the mountains. It should be dry at lower elevations, at least until near dark. It's about 120 miles / 2 hours out to your neck of the woods for us.
How about something simple, like maybe meeting near Elton's, and riding Highway 74 out to the coast? Then Dayle and I could head back up the coast, and y'all can head back out 74 towards home.
Maybe meet around 11, and get lunch somewhere in Lake Elsinore, or possibly San Juan Capistrano.

Makes sense to me to meet up at Elton's and I like the route. I think it's a little late in the season to do Angeles Crest. We could easily run into snow at higher elevations, or worse ice.
What time works? I"m not up for starting out at the crack of dawn. Meet at Elton's late morning? Also, Margaret is bailing on us.

It's about 2 hours to Elton's for us. So I figured an 11 a.m. meet would give us enough time for a decent ride.

11:00PM is good. Ken, do you know were I live?
I will do a last weather check today, lets say around 5:00PM and post here.

Maybe meet around 11, and get lunch somewhere in Lake Elsinore, or possibly San Juan Capistrano.
If we all have a late breakfast, we can have lunch at San Juan Capistrano.
I never eat there, but the guide show some restaurants there:
Ferrantellis
Harbor Grill
Harpoon Henrys
Jon's Seafood
Wind and Sea Restaurant
They are in Dana Point, ( Golden Lantern St, of Dana Point harbor Dr.) right in front of the sea.

Rain starting around 3p in San Juan Capistrano; Oxnard by 12n today. Meese if you come along chances are that you will be riding in some very rough weather going home.
Thoughts?

That's OK, the bike needs a wash. :D
Besides, rough weather is relative. We could have thunderstorms Like Joe in Ohio, or rain and thunder like Mark in Virginia.
We should be OK up through lunch, and for most of your ride back towards Riverside. Dayle and I will be fine heading back up the coast with our wet weather gear. Besides, I always find that weather.com forecasts storms a couple of hours early anyway. Good thing we're staying out of the mountains though.
See you at Elton's.

Hi Jim
No. It's not too late
Do you have a cell phone?
I will PM my cell to you
accordly to the plan, if we leave 11:00 from my home we will be 11:30 at Perris (I'm not sure if all want to take the freeway. 11:30 at Perris is freeway time)
then 11:45 at Joy St. That is the road to take you inside the lake if I'm not mistaked.
Is that a good point for you?
We can also stop at Grand Ave and Ortega Hwy crossing.
Which one is better?

Jim,
I'm shutting down the computer now.
I will assume you are going and we will look for you on the 2 points I mention before.
Also you have my cell and it should work on my bike.

Thank you Ken and Wife, Jim and Ton for this ride on the first of the year :)
We hope we can have more then that.
The rain was just few drops at the end of the ride (maybe Tom got a little more) :)

We enjoyed the ride today. Good to see everyone again. It got a little wet on the way back, but we stayed dry in our gear. Gotta love the LT for wet weather work.
Let's do it again, after the rains clear up. There's this neat little motorcycle museum (http://www.motosolvang.com/) up in Solvang (http://www.solvangca.com/map1.html) I've been wanting to visit.

Sure let's go there. January I will not be here on 27 to 30, other then that all weekends are almost good. Almost because Eliane needs to check her calls schedule first. (I'm sure we have nothing for 13, 14, 15 and 16)

I'm not sure we can go that quickly. I need to be in Portland for a couple of weeks in January, then I should know my schedule better for the next month or two. We'll sort it out though.

I really enjoyed getting out on the LT with everyone today. It has been a while since getting together. We need to make a point in 2006 to do more of this.
Hope you didn't get too wet Ken. I had rain almost to Palm Springs and then it stopped so I was dry by the time I got home.
Elton, it was very nice to see you and Eliane again. Hopefully, next ride Margaret will come along. Also, let me know when you get your tire changer up and running. I'd love to give it a try.
I'm up for a Solvang ride. In my case it might be easier to do an overnighter...but I'm up for it.
Happy New Year.

Jan 5th, 2006, 2:25 pm
Yeah, they wouldn't even park near my Mauve LT. :( Of course, that could have been because of its rat bike status more than its color. :) I'd be more afraid of walking back to the bikes, and not knowing which one to put the key into . . .

And mine's the one with no antennas, not shown in the photo. As for wives, I don't think I'll argue that one with you, because basically we all win. :)
