I just had my 24K mike service done and thought someone might like to know what was done and for how much. The work was done by Valdi at 804 W 220th st, Torrance, CA. The service included; changing every fluid on the bike except the gas, replacing the fuel and air filters, pulling the cam to replace one valve bucket, replacing the spark plugs with ”the good ones”, performing a tune-up, lubing the throttle cables, installing a GPS mount on the sting ray, installing the power and audio wires for the GPS (ZUMO 500), lubing the kickstand, performing a test ride, and doing a very nice job of cleaning up the bike. Total cost was $1,043 (and one dozen doughnuts) including the GPS mounting bracket. Was it worth it? The bike does run better, it doesn’t knock when leaving a stop, the throttle cable is much much better, and the GPS works. I think it was worth it. I intend to do the 6K mile service myself and save some money. There are only two things I do not like. They put something on the seat that makes it slippery. That got my attention. Secondly, with the GPS mounted on the sting ray, I have to look down to see it. That takes my eyes off the road and also cuts in on my girl watching time. At least I will know exactly how fast I was going just before I plough into the back of a stopped car because I was looking at some hot girl. Perhaps a little self discipline is in order here. :)
