News from the Sloughhouse flood zone.......
Sloughhouse's parking lot and lower areas flooded on Monday and Tuesday. They will be open tonight unless if floods again between now and then. But they could not get a delivery this week so there is no Prime Rib or Rib Eye.:( They still have Ribs and most other steaks:D.
I made the Reservations for the usual time but I plan on being there early for a few brews - around 6ish
Dinner at 7:30
Oh and this just in - The Sun is out in Downtown!:D

Well now folks, THAT was an interesting evening! For those not in attendance tonight, here's a recap of the evening, and a little background of the restaurant.
Sloughhouse restaurant was opened in 1850, and is the HDDC's favorite place to go. Excellent steaks, ribs, and a nice bar. Great staff, we really enjoy it. Tonight would have been (there's a clue...) the 7th time we have eaten there. They are located in a scenic location east of Sacramento by a creek. A creek that can overflow during heavy rains. Like we have had here lately...
As John posted earlier, they had their parking lot flooded on Monday and Tuesday, so they were closed and could not receive food deliveries. But they assured us they could take care of our group tonight. 15 Possee members showed up, ready to eat and celebrate the new year.
While we were enjoying some adult beverages in the bar, the manager informed John that they could take care of us for dinner, but didn't have a full menu selection. He was closing the restaurant to have enough food to be able to take care of us though..
A lovely waitress informed us they had sirloin and new york steaks, chicken, and ribs. Salad, but no bread. We said okay, no problem... We ordered, and the evenings festivities began! Or so we thought....
Salads were served, which the hungry Posse quickly finished off. A good time was being had by all, lots of laughter, as per a typical HDDC function.
Then the Sloughhouse manager appears, looking very solemn. Doug looks at him and wisecracks, "What, did the fire go out?" Oh Doug, how true that was! It turns out that the storm damaged their propane system, and all the propane leaked out, and they were not able to cook anything! The manager apologized over and over, and even offered to order us pizza from a near by restaurant. He quickly offered to "COMP" all 15 of us for a free meal anytime we would like, as well as order pizza for us tonight. We declined the pizza, and he offered to microwave some baby back ribs and bring them out on the house along with a comp letter to cover all of us. Which he did! So half of the Posse left to eat somewhere else, and the other half sat and eat BBQ ribs and enjoyed the rest of the evening.
Oh, and the COMP letter? Delivered as promised! The owner (Terah), a lovely young lady, felt really bad about the evening. She knew we had been there several times. But she kept her word, see below...
So next Wednesday, we promised Terah we would return so that she can make it up to us, and we will give her the opportunity to do so!
Aother fantastic HDDC adventure!!!

I heard a report this morning that the Sloughhouse Inn's parking lot is 3 feet under water. They have some catering today but have to cancel hundreds of reservations for this new year's eve.:(

We may want to give them another week before we try the Sloughhouse again. Give them a chance to recover...
