I have Metzler tires on my bike. Is that what came on it? The bike has 8600 mile on it and the rear tire looks pretty worn in the center. I'm going to replace it and was wondering what would be the best ride and get the most miles. Any suggestions?

There have been lots of posts about Tires recently. Here (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37242&highlight=tires) is a thread that is fairly recent on tires. Just use the search tab at the top of the page. Its a big help when it comes to small questions like Tires, Oil changes, etc.

The LT comes with either Metzeler 880s or Bridgestone BT020s. IIRC the dealership decides this when they prep the bike. For tire suggestions, you are limited in what tires you can put on from load ratings. I believe that your choices are Metzeler, Bridgestone, and Avon. There has been mention of using retreads, but you need to make your own decision on that.

There have been, and will be, many threads on which tire is the "best" one.

I've used the 880 and BT, and like the BT b/c I think it handles better. The 880s will last longer, but also cost more. As an example, the rear Metz is $194 v $113 for the BT020 (from American Motorcycle Tire (www.americanmototire.com)). The above comments are based on my own experience, and your own mileage may vary.
