It's time for another set of 880's. I went to Southwest Moto and the price is almost $100 more than the last set I bought. Front and rear are now around $330.
Does anybody have a suggestion on a good source for these tires?
Anybody get them for a better price?
Thanks!

I just bought a pair from Ron Ayers for that same price. It was the cheapest I could find.

Prices have lept because of the weak dollar. That's the going rate now, until the dollar makes a comback... (hopefully, not IF the dollar makes a comeback).

I made a switch to Bridgestones based on price.
I think I paid around $230.00 for the set. I've got about 1K on them and they still look great.
I just couldn't stomach $200 for a rear Metz.

It also will depend on how many miles you get on the "Stones" if they are cheaper. I get around 11.000 rear and 17.000 front on Metz. I here Stones only get about half that. :stir:

I only get about 6k on the rears and 12K the fronts with my Metz's. I hope the Stones will get similar.

Metz has gone up as well as other tires, but the Metz were always more than any other tires. I have an 02 LT and after reading just about every thread here about tires, I decided to try the Avon Storms. They are rated for the LT and the price is pretty good compared to other brands. They are not for the newer LTs, 05 and up.
The Storms are radials and change the ride quite a bit, or at least it did for me. They stick like stink in curves and seem to have better grip in the rain. I will feel lucky if I get 10K out of a set.
I heard others here suggest Bridgestones. From what I gather, they no longer make this tire for the LT and those that have been used in the past did not get a good review. Before you search for the stones, you might want to take a look at whats been written about them here on the site.
I have approximately 3500 miles on the Avons and am happy with them so far.

I got my Metzlers here http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com
just *before* the price increases hit. Currently, $197 rear, $112 front, with $5 per tire 'Fee', which totals $319 for the pair, to my door.
Not intended as an endorsement. They happened to have the best price at the time.

Wow, 1K out of a set of tires? Do you use the LT as a track bike? You might want to contact Avon, I'm almost certain they would like to see that set of tires.

I only get 4K out of the ME880.
The Storms are to soft and the front tire is a dangerous piece of crap.
I use all of my bikes the way that they were meant to be ridden.
Ride it like you stole it.
The road surfaces are very abrasive here.
And there is no where to go straight.

I have about 5000 on my Storms. They still look great! From the wear so far I would expect somewhere between 8000-10,000 miles out of them.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback.
Looks like 3 bills give or take is the goin' rate. With 40K on the odo - tires, brakes, and scheduled maintenance are going to make this an expensive pit stop.
