I wonder if the low flying jet we spotted off Jenner yesterday was the Calfire DC10 Tanker?

I don't think it was a 747 but it might have been the DC10, it sure was the oddest flying pattern for a jet I've ever seen.

Yep, that is most definitely the DC-10 that has been converted to Air Tanker by a California Company, and i'll bet they're gonna be busy again this year!
The 747 which Jeff had the link to is operated by Evergreen and they are based out of Marana AZ. They did not get all the bugs worked out in time for last Fire Season, but are shooting for this one hopefully. It is quite a site when these big boys drop their loads!

I thought the drop capabilities of the Evergreen thing were amazing. It would be interesting to see this thing in action. Sure a DC10 doing the aerobatics needed to drop on a fire are pretty damn impressive, but to see it done by a 747... that's a sight to see!
