I changed the rear tire yesterday using my HF changer and no-mar bar. When getting the last stretch of the tire on, I noticed a couple of 1/8 to 3/16 inch "rips" or tears" on the lip edge. They did not increase in size as I applied more force to get the tire over the rim. Bridgestone 020.

Is this normal? Do I need a new tire or just stop worrying about it?

Thanks for any advice.

You are OK. The bead of the tire is very tough and small amount of shredded rubber is of no concern. That last bit is a real SOB isn't it.

Thanks John. Tire changing is quite the joy. Especially after I initially checked for the tire direction and installed/balanced the tire and with one last check before installing the wheel and bam! Tire is installed Backwards.
Doh!!!

Start the process all over.

What were you using for a lubricant? My son and I just did his rear wheel using furniture polish (spray on Pledge), and it darn near fell on!

I used the paste from No-Mar that they send with their bar.
