All,

I have been reading all the Cee Bailey threads...can't find the one thing I am looking for. I am thinking #2 with wings as I ride in a variety of weather/temps and would rather have the extra protection when I need it. My problem is my main reason for upgrading is to get the wind off my pillon and I like to see over the shield when I ride alone--especially when in the twisties. I am about 5'6" and she is about 5'8". I have an '05 with the Euro shield right now and with it all the way up it offers some wind protection for her. Can anyone tell me what height to get?

My goals:
1--See over the shield when in the low position
2--Have protection for the pillon when I need it

Thanks much,
Tim

I just made a group purchase for myself and five other Finnish LT riders from CB. I am 180 cm (6') and I got a #2 -4 with wings as four other of my LT buddies did. One of the guys is somewhat shorter (172 cm , whatever in feet and inches...) and he rides his '05 with the seat in low position. For him we got the #2-5 with wings. I bet this would meet your criteria as well.

You might take a look at these (http://www.vpaccessories.com/misc_.htm). Scroll down the page 'bout 2/3 way and you'll see the frontal pic of the LT, fitted with *de-buffeter*. Price isn't too bad. I don't know anyone who has a set, butt maybe the manufacturer can put you in touch with someone. HTH.

I am 5'9" and have the CB #2w/wings -4 and really like it. All the way down and I look over it, and when I want more protection I just trim it up to what feels good.

To get a better perspective, how much lower basing from your eye level would the CB#2 -4 be as compared to the standard BMW shield?

TIA

The CB #2 -4 is about 2 inches shorter than the standard. The #2 -2 is approximately the same height as the full height BMW windshield, IIRC.

Happy New Year.

Pre-'05 bikes in the US had the tall windshield as standard. Now the standard shield is the short eurocut version.

CeeBailey website had this mix up until I urged them to correct it as I was not the only client who got confused (and wrong height windshield for that matter) because them only talking about "standard" BMW windshields. BMW has had two standards, the tall and the short version.

Thanks for helping with the dimensions. I was not sure of them in inches, so I just talked about "tall and short".

OK to make things even more? complicated, from where to where does one measure ?.

Ari, any chance of you enquiring whether the Finish company that made YOKO motorcycle clothing is still in business ?.

It is measured on the centerline of the screen (the length of the glass only). I learned from CB that Eurocut and Standard cut screens have the same centerline dimension. Eurocut just has the outer corners higher than the standard cut screens.

About Yoko: Their website seems to refer only to BMX (bicycle motocross) equipment, no motorcycle stuff at all.

Is there something specific you are looking for? I could ask from the local dealers if they know more. Send me PM if you want.

IIRC, straight up the middle of the windshield measuring from the top of the cutout to the top of the windshield.

Thanks, will confirm tomorrow.

Ari, I would like to buy another suit as I am very happy with the last one I purchased, but cannot find them or a website anywhere. Rukka, yes, Yoko, no.
P.S. Why the Left well ?.
P.P.S. Your dog seems to have important things on it's mind.

Simon,

I called a local bike shop and learned the following:

About a year ago Scott USA bought the YOKO brand. In this process they also did some major modification to the collection.
So you might be able to find some "good old YOKO features" in Scott clothing, maybe worth asking.

"left well" (pozo izquierdo) is an "inside joke" of us windsurfers. It is a world famous winsurfers paradise in the Gran Canaria and it is a lot of fun for the surfers (nothing for the rest of the family though...).
So far one board member has recocnized the name.

And our dog, 7 year old short haired miniature dachshund Ippu, indeed has important things on his mind. Mostly food and girls and where to find a suitable place to sleep. Guitar bag is his favorite...

Ari,

EXACTLY the same things that are on my mind !!.

Never been to Gran Canaria, but twice to Tarifa (don't ask, my ws skills are rubbish).

Pity about the YOKO news. They always came top in the bike clothing surveys. Probably weren't charging enough, as I found then pretty cheap compared to the competition. Will check out Scott USA, thanks.

Back to the original subject, yes my screen does measure 17" (43,5 cm) top to bottom.
