Hello guys,
I am going to be in Minneapolis the second week of July and will probably be in need of tires at that point. Is there a recommendation of a shop to get some new rubber? I'll be staying in Richfield, and the Hitching Post in Hopkins looks like the closest.
Thanks,
Dale White

I've not used the Hitching Post myself, but would recommend Moon Motors in Monticello if you don't mind a ride. It would be about 1 hour depending on traffic. Their number is 763-295-2920 if you want to try. Leo's south is on the south side of town maybe 25 minutes from Richfield.

As mentioned,You also have Leo's South in Lakeville. Haven't been there myself, but they've been around forever.
Been to the Hitching Post for tires on my Kaw Voyager 1200. Good service, but took them 2 days to mount them.
If they're busy plan on waiting

Are you going to need tires for sure. I could order a set from Parts Unlimited and have them waiting. We could pull your wheels at my house and run them to the local shop my friend owns and mount and balance them.I'll need a couple of days lead time to special order them though. I'm in Shoreview which is on the north side of town. Jeff
p.s. Moon's is more BMW friendly than Hitching post

I like the Hitching Post, they have several locations, but the one I go to is in Hopkins, just off of 7 & 169. Good folks there. I've heard good things about Moon Motors in Monticello. Be sure to call ahead & to make sure they have tires in stock & schedule an appointment. Every time I have bought tires at Hitching Post, they have been as cheap or cheaper than the online tire stores.
Have had work done at Leo's, and bought one bike there, but won't go back due to the way I've been treated by some of their sales people. Their service & parts sales people have been very nice, however.

I wouldn't even have Leo's check my tire pressure...
Have heard good stuff about the other dealers though.

Once again, I am overwhelmed with the generousity of this group. Thanks for the replies and the offer of help. I called the Hitching Post in Hopkins, and they seemed friendly and I put some tires on layaway at a decent price, (for Metzlers these days) and set a tentative appointment. I am looking forward to being back in the State I grew up in. The phone call brought back my accent. I believe I ended the conversation with "real good then, thanks a bunch." I'll have to work on being Minnesota nice again.

You're not supposed to say "decent price".It's "not too spendy". LOL
