I'm on a GT not a GS but I haven't had any problems with the valves. After 50K miles, I am starting to have the rear and sometimes front pressure not register on the display. I'm wondering if maybe the sensor batteries are wearing out. There is no mention of a battery in the online parts diagrams though.

TKS KEN .. I WAS TOLD BUY MY BMW SHOP THAT THE BATT LIFE OF THE SENSOR IS 10 YEARS ... SOUNDS A LOT BUT WHO KNOWS.. PLEASE KEEP ME UP TO DATE WHEN YOU FIND OUT WHAT WENT WRONG..

AS I LIVE ON VERY BAD ROADS AND GO FROM ROUGH GRAVEL WHERE THERE ARE MANY NAILS AND METAL FAIRINGS IN THE GROUND IT IS VERY COMMON TO PICK UP SMALL ITEMS PLUS THORNS IN OUR TRUCK TIRES.. THAT IS WHY I AM VERY CONCERNED.. YOU CAN IMAGINE FROM GOING DAILY IN THIS TERRAIN THEN i HIT THE NICE ROAD AND ZOOM OF AT HIGH SPEEDS WITH A SMALL TIRE LEAK ... THAT COULD NOT BE TO NICE.. :bmw:

hi pampero,
I'm from Argentina as well, but living in Germany. I answer in English so the others don't loose the thread of the post.
I have an R1200RT and happen to work for BMW, and when taking a German language course I met an Italian developing the sensors for the pressure control on the tyres. Because of my contract I cannot get into details, but the reason why the batteries last so long is because the sensor only comunicates with the BC usually every minute or so (the transmition lasts fractions of a second) and only if the bike is moving at more than 30 km/h.
