IS THERE A REAL DIFRANCE WITH THE NEW GEAR BOX OF THE 2008 GSA. :bmw:

The latest iteration of GSs have had rather a steep 1st gear. BMW has been saying the 'newer' 2008 models have a lower ratio that is easier is tough terrain and off the line. I have NOT ridden one yet, but the rumor seems right.

Thanks Mr Townsend. I ordered this on my new GSA as I live on a farm with bad roads this should make it simpler to get in and on rough areas. :bmw:

NO - not much difference -
I have a new 2008 GSA with the "Enduro" lower first gear -- it doesn't seem much different from my 2006 GSA (which I still have). The 10% lower 1st gear is not noticable to me...

Tks Griffis .. Good to know, as I ordered my new GSA with the Enduro 1st gear. .. I hoped it would be noticeable.
Sorry to ask.
Do you have on your bike the new enduro ESA system?
If so, the cable of the back ESA would you not think that it is in a rather delicate spot to withstand the constant beating of small stones and general stuff off the back tire. :bmw:

Ya - I pop-riveted a piece of plastic to the bottom of the shock cover to protect the ESA hose/fitting. It does look vunerable to rocks, etc. Have just about finished the farkeling - -installed the Audiovox cruise -- had to put the 06 brake switches on the front and rear brakes to disingage the cruise (because of the 1-piece LED brake wire) -- Have the Rox risers, lower driver and passenger pegs, Russell seat, BMW pad on rear box for passenger, quick release tank bag, J&M CB-intercom with XM, air horn, front fender extentor, hand guard fins, highway pegs, laminar lip - bike has all BMW options --TPS, ESA, ASC, enduro 1st gear, fog lights and also moto lights), BMW bag liners, cup holder, ... don't know what else to add,

When you get back from Alaska post a ride Report! I am trying to do this next year and my brother/friends are not "adventure" minded...
I am looking forward to the purchase of the GSA w/ ESA and would also benefit from pictures!
