I have Ohlins installed at or about 22K miles, While out riding today, I felt like I was sitting in a bucket. Was two up, and bottomed out and drug the skid plate. I now have 52K on the "Beerburner"
So what is the procedure for having the Ohlins rebuilt? Where does one send them? How long does it take, on average? I'll have to look up where I purchased them.
Thanks:bowdown:

Andy at onlineparts.com might be able to help you (that's where I got mine a long time ago)
BMW of San Jose rebuilds Ohlins.
Then there is this place: http://www.propilotracing.com/

And if they aren't leaking, just call around till you find a dirt bike shop that will renew the gas in them. I did that on mine and it made a world of difference, not to mention the bike being down for just one day.

When I needed a rebuild I used Kyle Racing (http://www.kyleusa.com/) - they help support this community.

Griff, I suppose that to acheive this the shocks have to be removed first? It would be difficult to reach them otherwise.

Be sure you say, "dood" a lot when you go in. IIRC 24 bar was the pressure, you may have to call one of the rebuilders (that's what I did). BTW, it's tons cheaper, too.

I had mine rebuilt last December at Kyle Racing. $330 and good service.
If you do pull them, please take a picture of the nitrogen recharge point. I am very interested in doing this as well on a regular basis. I looked mine over and could not notice a place to recharge.
thanks

I received this reply today, interesting........
Hi Floyd,
Sounds like you need a stiffer spring and a rebuild, the spring runs
$135.95 and the rebuild is $139.95 any parts you may need such as seals
etc. are extra, our turn around time is running 5-7 days right now.
Let us know if we can further assist you.
Best regards,
PPS
Hello: I have a 2003 BMW LT1200, I installed Ohlins at or about 22K miles.
I now have 52K miles on my bike and I have found that two up the bike bottoms out. What is the procedure for rebuilding the Ohlins? What is the
cost and what needs to be done?
I am supposed to have the stiffest spring available, when I ordered them, I was told this. No mention of just regassing the shock? Nothing about seal leaks?

Griff: I found someone to regas the shock and he is just down the road. He has been building racing suspensions for 20 years. When I gave him the numbers you gave me he found it hard to believe, 24 bar = 400 psi. I am doing some research on it.

I just returned from "Racing Inovations Suspension". Carl removed the screw from the fill plug and we heard a small release of gas. After some investigations found a bladder inside. Carl used a neddle valve and increased the pressure to 260 psi, Ohlins recomended 18 BAR = 251 psi. When he inserted the needle, the gauge read 200psi. There was no sign of oil leaks, the shaft is in great shape. So now I am ready to reinstall the shock. I saved a small fortune doing this over a complete rebuild,@ $300.00+ and having the bike down waiting for shipping times and such. Will keep you posted on the results when I get the bike back on the road. Thanks Griff for the info, I find I continue to be indebted to you!
I asked Carl if I could apprentice under him, he just chuckled, and said that's how he got into it!
