only one of those 5 is for a '01 model and I am not sure about it. The rest are '02 or later. $600 for a used drive?

You have to be really desperate to buy something from "Deep six auctions". You can get brand new parts from Chicagobmw for the same price for most of what they sell..

Try www.cyclesrecycled.com, Fred might have a spare drive available.

I've got one from my 2002 LT, (34,000 miles) already has the "updated" bearing installed (by dealer) at 14,800.

It's just laying on the shelf here, I'll give Reno a call this morning.
