yet again!!!!

Hi all, I've done a full search on this forum and found some very helpful information. At present I'm going through the unpleasant job of changing the clutch on my '99 LT. It has 45,000 on it and there is plenty of oil in the clutch housing.

I've seen on here that the slave cylinder fails and causes a leakage of oil into the housing but the mechanic has also found engine oil in there too, can anyone shed any light on this???

Is it difficult to change the seals on the gearbox and engine, ie does it have to be sent back to delaer???

Thanks.

If there is engine oil, it is probably the engine main seal and/or O-ring. While in there I would CERTAINLY change ALL seals on tranny and engine and replace the slave. There are lots of folks to help you through it on this site and we have done 4 or 5 in my garage here at the house. If you have a measure of mechanical ability, you CAN do it. ;)

Just a quick update to this saga. It doesn't look like it's the slave cylinder as it is bone dry and the oil is oming from the other side of the gear box. I'm hoping that the engine oil is down to a dodgy o ring that was taken off the output shaft, it is rock soild and broke when it was being taken off.

How does one remove the seal on the output shaft, is it twist of, ie threaded, or a push fit???

Thanks.

THe output seal just presses in place. Removal is with screws, dent pullers, wine cork removers, etc.

This thread shows a little mroe detail. The seal depth is crucial. I think 2"? But double check.
