Is the low beam bulb a dealer only item? Mine went out last night. I need to replace it. And if it is a dealer item, anyone got the part number? Thanks.......... :)

It is a H7 and you should be able to get it at any parts store. This may be the time to upgrade to a HID.

It depends on the year ,pop the bulb out and hot foot down to your local auto parts ,it has been said not to replace with a higher wattage bulb as it will cook the bucket . I replaced mine with HID kit off ebay $84 for high and low beam ,99LT uses one T7 and one T3 ,they are a little too bright.

Having complained about the terrible low beam on this bike since the day we got it and rarely if ever used it at night (couldn't see squat), I finally did the HID on our 99 a week or so ago, with the CQ company for $70, bought the 5k bulb. Great kit!! The light is awesome and way better than any other bulb upgrade including the expensive PIAA. You will not regret the HID. Went riding last night till 2am, loved it.

I got a stock bulb at Autozone for $14.99. I'm still wanting to do the HID upgrade. Is it best to do both the high and the low beam? I do a lot of night riding around here and there are plenty of deer and other critters on the road at night.................

I did them both, but the high beam reflector is not the right shape for the shape of HID bulb/tubes ,turns into a WICKED high beam it is just too bright to hit other drivers with at any distance ,and is very high ,low and wide .The low beam is hard enough on oncoming drivers of low sitting cars where their at eye level with your headlight.
I did not think that they would/could be this bright at only 35 watts.
Use caution as the box said they were for off rode use only ,do not know if that was hype or the law.

I've got about 350 night time miles on this since the HID install, NO one has flashed me with the HID! I always run the Motolights, and use the High Beam as often as I can. I can't imagine any better a system. I have the light adjusted all the way up, contrary to how I would have set this, prior to reading the Clymer manual, after the HID install. I too thought it was going to be too much for oncoming traffic. But, not so.
Pics do this no justice. ~;^/

I have a 2002 and really need the HID upgrade. Does anyone know which bulbs I need. I have them on my zx14 2 low and 2 high beams. There is no other option IMO. So if anyone can help me out that would be great. Also if there is a recomended kit to buy.
Thanks
