 Picked bike up from dealer today. I had it in for tires /oil seepage and 6k check. I purchased my 2005 k1200lt left over in may 2007 and had some troubles that had me driving a cage more than the bike. Now i only have 5600 miles on it and had to have center stand replaced at1000 miles. 4600 miles later the oil pan is weeping/ Main seal is leaking and whats really great is the dealer had it for three days and could not verify oil seep/leak??? Untill i slid my hand under the bike and came up with oil all over my fingers to show the blind Bozo ** The so called machanic then put the bike on his lift and was able to verify the that my bike did indeed have a couple of problems. The oil pan could be fixed in a few weeks and the main seal would have to wait untill the end of october or maybe around thanksgiving provided the clutch did not start to slip or the oil did not start to run out. then i would have to park it till they could find time to work on it. I forgot to mention the rear brake squeal. I was told that it is a wear item and would not be covered by warranty even after i reminded them of the service bull that i read about on this site. For being a touring bike i really start to wonder what BMW has built?Sorry for the rant but this new of a bike should not have all these issues!

You need a different dealer. Find one.
I'm fortunate that I have many available within a couple of hours from my home. My closest one though hasn't been as customer orientated in the service department though which is why I use the one I bought my motorcycle from. A bit further out, but so much better service.
The service bulletin you speak of is where I changed my mind about service. The dealership that refused to accept it called a SB "a repair idea not a recall" if I remember properly. My other dealer serviced it under warrenty and even loaned me a F800ST to try out. It was a fun motorcyle. Great commuter. But ergonomically, not the day to day motrcycle for me.

Read this - http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/safety/consumer/rights/lemonlaw.htm
Looks like 30 days out of service qualifies as a lemon.
If you qualify, use the term "collateral substitution" with BMW to get a new bike.

I fell your pain. I've had more "issues" with this bike and BMW stealers, but I'm lucky because I can do the work myself and use either aftermarket or industrial parts and fix all the $hit that BMW refuses to. If not for this forum I would have purged myself of this bike and never looked back. I'm not happy about it and when someone ask: how do you like it? I let them know that the BMW engineering myth is just that a big fat myth.

Makes me real thankful for my dealer. Comparing him to some of the others out there, makes it look like I just happened on one of the best if not the best. On top of that, he's getting ready to break ground on a new shop.

I agree that a number of the problems seem to be the kind of thing that a reputable company would take care of. I've had one of the infamous rear brake rotors and both of my bikes have had the plastic fuel line couplers break while on the road. One at 99,000 and the other at 38,000. I just purchased metal replacements for my 2003.
I love my LT and would like to have one for a very long time. I'm able to do all of the repairs myself and don't think it is too much trouble. But the lack of an adequate dealer network is a very big problem for many owners. I'm always concerned when I'm out on the road.
Hopefully if BMW motorcycle owners will make their feelings known, and inform the factory of the problems we can improve the quality and quantity of dealerships to the point this is no longer a problem.

 I purchased my 2005 k1200lt left over in may 2007 and had some troubles that had me driving a cage more than the bike.Have you checked the build date via the VIN number (http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi)? It may have been sitting around before you bought it a lot longer than you think...
may give you another avenue to push with the oil leaks....
eg my Sept 05 new purchase was built April 04......
