I got in this afternoon from my second visit to Alaska, the first on my 05 LT. I am happy to report that the bike was flawless, and handled the Top of The World Highway, and everything else we ran across. I have ridden BMW's only for 37 years, and must tell you this one is the best. I replaced the stock seat, which was the worst I had ever run across, lowered the pegs, (and shifter and brake) and put on an Aero Flow shield, It is now the most comfortable bike I have ever owned. The thing averaged around 44mpg, and got over 50 mpg across Colorado, Utah, and Nevada. It must be the altitude. Anyway, I had absolutely no problem of any kind. It now has a little over 30,000 miles, and hasn't been to see a dealer since around 12,000. I will probably check the valves before long, then not think about them until 80,000 or so. That is what I did on my 1000RT and 11000LT, and I never had a problem with either of them. Just happy to report a great trip, and one with no problem of any kind. (btw. covered around 10,700 miles, and trip covered 25 days)

Glad you had a safe trip. I think my 05' with the way I have it set up is incredible. I rode home from Ouray Colorado in a day last year almost 900 mi and the only reason to get off was I was home. You should do a trip report if you haven't already.

Great trip, one I would like to try as well. What about the road conditions, did you ever wish you had ridden the GS Adventure instead?

I am curious about the increased gas mileage in Colorado. I just returned from a week long drive in Colorado mtn passes and on into Utah. I think my gas mileage was about 6 mpg higher during the trip. I check my mileage using the computer routine on the bike.

Mine is always higher when at elevation, wish the motorhome was the same!
