I've spent many years drooling over the RT and when it came time to 'pull the trigger' I fell in love with the luxury of the LT. I'm going to sign the paperwork tomorrow
I look forward to making many friends on this board. I have been lurking for about a week and appreciate all the information that I received.

Nice bike and welcome to this madhouse. You have a lot of good neighbors down there in Oregon. Fill out your info so we know what town you live in and what to call you. Enjoy the new bike!

I wanted an RT in 03 also but ex wife talked me into an LT. Put around 50k on it and got a GT and now I have an RT and know I should have done it the first time but everyone is different and if we all liked the same model it would be a very boring world.

Much the same here. I rode a 1987 Kawasaki Voyager XII for 17 years and sold it when Kawasaki committed to the AVA (American Voyager Association) that a new Voyager was in the works. After two years of waiting, they reneged and decided not to replace the discontinued Voyager. So, I had only a few options to consider as I wanted electronic cruise control - Wing, Harley Ultra Classic, BMW RT, BMW LT and, I think the Yamaha Venture has cruise also. I don't much care for the cruiser look so the Yamaha dropped off the list. I had a lemon 1984 Honda Accord that Honda wouldn't stand behind, so I won't buy a Honda again. I test rode the Harley and neither me nor the wife liked it much at all. After the smooth as silk Voyager, it was like riding a washing machine. This left the BMWs.
We rode the RT first and while I liked the lighter weight and handling, the low-RPM vibration was pretty intense as compared to the Voyager and my wife didn't like the seat much nor the lack of a back rest (yes, I know a trunk with optional back rest is available). We next rode the LT and it was like being home again. It isn't quite as smooth as the Voyager, but was much like it in many other ways and the wife was happy again. After 5K miles, I have no real regrets. Having a dealer that is 90 miles away is an ongoing pain, but that is my only real beef so far with the BMW.

Welcome to our own little "Psycho ward" Rich! Like Brian said, there are several fellow Oregonians among our members here. Don't hesitate to PM myself, or anyone else in the neighborhood if you can't find what you're looking for on the list here.
Also, be sure to watch the Pac Northwest Forum for any local happenings.
