Shft linkage

I have an '03 LT and the shifting is getting sticky.
I haven't looked at it yet so here is my question.

1. Are there any links to smiple instructions cleaning or replacing the linkage?
I have searched and it seems that mostly there are complaints about the problem.

2. What is the difference between the "Short" and "Long" linkage.

I am taking a ride Sunday and may try to take a "Look" at it tonight or tommorow...

I've been using the lube for auto brake caliper bolts and it seems to work well.
