I have a friend that lives in North Carolina. They are getting a flood of Yankees there that they call "Half Ways". Those are the ones that left New York for Florida, and then decided it was too hot in the summer.
Now they're buying homes in N.C. (they went "Half Way" home) because it's not too cold in the winter, and not too hot in the summer!

Back in the 80's, people were showing up in Louisiana by the carload... many had a little piece of paper they got from the NY Welfare department saying "Louisiana is having the next "Alaskan Gold Rush"... hurry there before all the jobs are gone."
Rumor has it they reduced their "rolls" by over 15,000... and Louisiana increased theirs by 200,000... because these folks told their "family"...
