I recently purchased a 2004 LT - really wonderful bike. I had a PC 800, loved that, love this more. I ride year round and rain doesn't bother me, until today. First heavy rain on my LT and I had my rainproof pants on, but to my surprise, my jeans were soaked in the crotch. I thought maybe my pants had a whole or tear I missed, but no. Then on the way home it happened again.
As far as I can tell, because of the dip in the seat, the water pools and I must be sitting in water and my pants aren't good enough for sitting in it, just walking in it. Before I buy something else, any ideas? Does everyone else have this problem? Does raising the seat that inch help this issue?
I'm very pleased with the wind dynamics on this bike, but not the rain dynamics. I get wetter on this bike than the PC ever got me.

Here's the cure for the water pooling problem Mark:
http://beadrider.com/

I've been riding on one for over 5 years now happily. Not only does it help with the pressure point relief, but it also provides good ventilation during the hot weather, and really makes a great water drain for when the rain comes down! No pooling on the seat now.

Hey Mark, welcome to the site. I'm a former Coaster myself (got broadsided on it 2 years ago, bought the LT before I was off crutches). I know what you mean about the water pooling, just don't know what to do about it. Maybe I'll have to try the beadrider. I hated those bead things when I was a truck driver, maybe things are different on the bike saddle though.

I liked the PC but the LT is easily twice as nice. Can you say power? Miss the PC saddlebags though, open the side cases on the LT & everything wants to fall out.

With rain pants the crotch is the worst stress point and usually the fist place that starts leaking. I ride year around and I am lucky to get 18 months out of a set of First Gear over pants before I have to replace them. I have tried seam sealing and waterproofing but it never seemed to make much difference. One complication for me is that both my BMWs have been reworked by Rich's Custom Saddles. My butt buckets serve double duty as bird baths, especially the LT saddle :rotf:.

Got a beadrider - thanks for the info
hasn't rained hard enough to try it for that, but used it the other day after 3 hr on the bike and that helped
