Just pulled this information from the Smartire website. It may be of interest and prompt you to ask the question as to why it has been withdrawn.
"SmarTire is no longer actively soliciting sales and distribution opportunities for its motorcycle product."

I'm disappointed. the rear tire monitor seems to be taking some time to get received.
Guess I'll replace the system with something else. I wonder if they'd sell the motorcycle product to someone to carry on with.....
Once I've had this on, I've come to appreciate it.

It's because there is more money to be made in the large truck category.
They are concentrating on Motorhomes and 18 wheelers.

If you start off and don't stop for lights and the receiver missed the signal from the tire,it will be 6-7 minutes before the sensor sends again.
Mine routinely misses the first rear signal, but catches it at the next light/stop sign.
If you do replace yours, don't throw it away. Others on here would like to have the sensors for spares.

I ordered my SmarTire on EBAY last week and it is due to arrive here 10 Jun.
I hope they work OK.

I bought mine on eBay too. NIB, but Amrttire is also selling their current remaining product line from Vulcan ...

Price is about $170. I bought mine on eBay for $100 instead.

Doran (http://doranmfg.com/tirepressuremonitors.htm) makes something similiar. Just looking at it, I don't like the way it's setup. I like the Smartire much better.

According to the smartire people the sensors for motorcycles are the same as the ones for cars and trucks. Only the monitor head is different. Dan is correct in that they said the motorcycle segment was not large enough to warrant continued production of the units. They do fully honor the warranty and according to their web site have enough parts to cover warranty and repairs. I purchased one on eBay for approximately $100.00 and find it to be an excellent unit at a great price.
Just my opinion, yours may be different.

I also bought the Smartire unit off eBay - went to install and the glass on the monitor was cracked. Took 10 days to ship back into Canada for a return warranty and now they are sending me a new unit - over all it might be three weeks - need to punch somebody in the nose!!
Looking forward to the final install and the results!!

So is this one different that the "original" Smartire? It has Smartire branded on it...what gives? Thanks

Thanks Dan. I guess they just changed the dashboard monitor a little bit.
