While discussing possible future locations for Curve Cowboy Reunion (http://www.curvecowboyreunion.com) several people suggested that the Banff/Jasper area would be a beautiful location for a group gathering. Several of us believe that a gathering in the Canadian Rockies would be perfect and Randy Ferras and Ken Riach of Calgary decided to try to make this happen. Randy has a family member working for Fairmont Hotels that was able to put together a proposal for us. Here are the details of the proposal: June 23 to 27, 2009 (Tuesday to Friday pattern)
Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Opening dinner buffet: Italian Buffet - $45.00 pp
Farewell dinner buffet: Mountain Dinner Buffet - $55.00 pp
Breakfast, lunch and other dinners on own
Rate: $229.00 CDN. single/double occupancy. This rate is subject to a resort fee of $11.50 per person, per day plus hotel taxes.
Alternate Rate: $269.00 single occupancy. $309.00 double occupancy. This rate includes full hot breakfast each morning for each person; the resort fee of $11.50; all gratuities within the Hotel (ie bell desk, banquet staff, housekeeping etc.).
Rates applicable three days prior and three days afterThe dates were chosen to to be in some of the better weather and to avoid the crush of tourists brought by the Calgary Stampede (http://cs.calgarystampede.com/) beginning on July 4. Some may want to stay long enough to attend the Stampede after our gathering.
The hotel is the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge (http://www.fairmont.com/Jasper) outside the town of Jasper, 'nestled in between captivating and majestic mountains and enchanting lakes'. I have stayed at this hotel and it
truly beautiful and in an amazingly beautiful setting. Jasper is located at the north end of the Icefields Highway traveling through Banff and Jasper Provincial Parks. At the southern end of the Highway is beautiful Lake Louise and the town of Banff.
The rate of $229 is less than half of the current rate for that time of year in beautiful Jasper, Alberta. While the rates are higher than a basic Best Western, these are excellent rates for this class of accomodation in this beautiful location.
We will need to let the hotel the approximate size of the block by the end of this month, so please answer the poll above. We are not looking for a commitment at this time, just trying to gauge interest.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions please post them below.
