Hi, I have just bought a Streetpilot and the BMR Co-pilot shelf for my K12LT and want to connect the voice into my Autocom Pro7 which is under the pillion seat. The Autocom cable in the UK is only 1.5 metres long and so I don't think will fit once it has been routed through the fairing. I would be interested to know what others have used and also where they took the live and earth from to power the Streetpilot.

Thanks
Moodybrit

Many have taken the power from the map light wires for radar detectors or GPS units.

Sounds like your Autocom cable to the GPS will run short. If Autocom does not have extensions you could make one yourself.
* Check from the jack how many wires the cable has (probably 2 to 4).
* Get some similar type of cable (it's OK if it has more wires, less is no good..)
* cut your original Autocom cable and solder the extension cable to it (use shrink tube to cover the soldering and one large shrink tube to cover all the splicings)
* if you want, you can use a DIN-connector (or a regular jack) for the other end of your extension. This way your future fairing removals might be easier.

And after you have read this, please fill in your profile and you might get some second opinions as well...;-)

Best regads

@ moodybrit - assuming you are in the UK try Maplins for the parts, I'm almost sure its a standard stereo lead, look under Cables, then 2.5mm stereo jacks http://www.maplin.co.uk and Autocom do a power lead from the battery for fitting the unit permanently to the bike, but you can always revert back to batteries at any time http://www.autocom.co.uk

Moody Brit huh? Is that what your partner calls you? ;)

I used Autocom's Part #172 connected to my PRO-M1's grey 5-pin DIN plug. Not sure if the PRO-7 has the same connections. I probably had the matching socket added to my Part #172 and maybe asked for it to be extended or simply added an extension (don't remember now I'm afraid). See the HoW (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/faq.php?faq=how_index_1#faq_how_faq_accintercom) (f.1). For power/ground, I followed Stick's philosophy [see the HoW (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/faq.php?faq=how_customization#faq_how_faq_cuselec) (d.10)], and installed a (Painless) fused power distribution block and ground block in the nose, connected to the battery by two large gauge wires under the tank. I used a 3A fuse for my SPIII.
