I have made it back from the high country. I had a total blast and thank John and Dan for riding along with me. We experienced a little bit of everything along the way, We detoured around some snow but never had to ride on it! We crossed passes as high as 11'500 feet in Colorado and it was warmer than White pass (4500') was this afternoon. I did not take enough pictures but I will post a few here when I get caught up around here. 3900 miles and my trusty GT did not require any oil or any other maintenance. Did Not even have to add air to the tires. P.S. We never got lost.(thanks Garmin) and I know you guys want to know... No performance awards from any of us! (thanks Escort)

Brian-
I figured you'd be getting back into town about now - great ride?!!? I'm anxious to hear about it and see the photos. What about you, Dan the Reelman - I know you took some photos.

Brian, glad to hear you're back home safe buddy! Dan should have gotten back about the same time as myself: about 4:00 this afternoon. I had my share of trouble with my new Avon Storms, but don't have time to go into it now. Need rest! Plus I have to finish packing up now for my work trip tomorrow to Pendleton! (Coulda swore I was just there!)
This weekend I'll tear into the trusty LT for her overdue 12K (84K actually) as well as trying to figure out what to do about my messed up front tire and fixing my broken Cruise Control!
Tks for keeping us legal(?) Brian with your Passport! And Tks to Dan for being my trusty escort home!
More info later folks, but Red River was a ball, even with my Bike trouble.

I got in about 3:30 pm, but found myself locked out of the house (after setting the alarm off). I had to make a run to my daughters to get keys so I actually got in about 4:15 pm. Thanks Brian and John for letting me ride caboose. All of your leading and navigating was much appreciated. You did a great job of laying this trip out Brian, even if a couple of those passes had me feeling like a misfit mountain climber.
I’m off to the dunes tomorrow night so pictures will be a little late. Overall, it was a really fun adventure (even without a windshield).

Welcome back Brian!
I think we need to do a RTE one day.
Adoption did not pan out for us..I guess in america getting your masters degree means you do not have time..HAH! Funny how some countries perceive us. ANYWAYS, We devcded to get an 'HD 08 flhtcu and racking up the mileage with lots of smiles as we got from the k1200lt....
Hope everyone is doing well here

Thanks for the pics, Dan. That first one reminds me of the San Luis Valley where I lived at that big sand pile. I think I recognize the Million Dollar Highway with pretty good snow cover as well. Where is the chopper memorial?
Did you make that quad fly?

DennyThat is the Vietnam Veterans National Memorial located along North Central New Mexico's Enchanted Circle, near the town of Angel Fire. It has a restored Huey helicopter on display that flew missions in Vietnam.
Did you recognize the last picture?
Riding was great on the sand and without incident. We got a couple of beautiful days. After the last couple weeks I really need to back to work and rest up :D

Denny, that one shot is the Million Dollar Hwy I do believe. The first pic where I am leaning against Dan's Bike is not due to my envy or drooling over the power that Bike has, but rather, due to the wind which was blowing so hard up there where we pulled over that we thought his Bike was going to get blown over! So I was propping it up against the wind. Least I could do for the Photog! I know Brian took a buch also, so we will see those later as well I am sure.

John I believe that photo was in Idaho. I finally got the bike washed so I can now post a couple of pics. Everytime I try to post a pic with the pixels that Dan uses it won't go thru. I will make a copy for you and Dan of the full size pics

Ian,
Sorry to hear about the adoption mess. I have a good friend who had the same result. I guess you need to be more disfunctional. I rode past your place a couple months ago but no sign of you. We could do a RTE or your Starbucks so I could checkout your new bike.

I think you are correct about being dysfunctional!
Sure a RTD(rink) to star-bucks would be just fine.
