Tioga Pass - Set to Open

Hwy 120 running through Yosemite National Park will open this Wednesday, May 21st at 0800. The roadway had its final inspection today as ranger crews were deployed to the Tioga east Yosemite entrance to set up shop for the summer. Extra effort was put on the project to open by Memorial Day weekend.

Tioga and Glacier Point roads are temporary closed due to late spring snow storm currently in progress. High winds are expected through late Monday. There is no estimated date for reopening either road. :(

The new snow is plowed and Tioga Pass is back open.

Yep, we went over in the new Mini on Monday afternoon (Memorial Day), light snow and tons of fog but very driveable. A motorcyclist on a SV1000 had come over about the same time as us and was very cold and soaked to the bone from the weather so I would advise anyone going in the next week or two to bring extra gear.
