I have a 5'-8" inseam and my new to me (2003 LT) this spring riding shows I am just touching the ground with my toes. I am not really confident at stops. Has any one had experience with the BMW lowered seat or do you have any aftermarket suggestions?

Wow, with a 68" inseam you should NOT have any issues reaching the ground! ;)

There is a seat adjustment on the bike, is yours in the lower position.

The low seat will make a nice difference in your case. See if you can find a used heated one.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I do have the seat in its lowest position.

Mine came with a lowered seat. I've a 31" inseam. DID NOT like the lowered seat....hard as a rock after a few hundred miles.

I have 30" inseam and have no problem reaching the ground on my 02 LT. Jut put on a tutu and a pair of ballet shoes, you'll do just fine. My ballet shoes come with the Harley Davidson logo on it. In case you're wondering, I put on those tights for more clearance during the summer ride.

From 05 on, they shaved the lip underneath the seat which allowed the seat to sit that much lower. This is also possible with your 03 along with shaving some of the foam from the sides of your seat. I rode an 01 with the same issues and now have an 06 which I find totaly different to manouver at slow speeds (the rake on 05's on are also shorter).

From 05 to present vs. 99 to 04 the key differences are:

* A different seat pan mold which sits lower in the frame.

* A thicker lumbar support which moves you closer to the bars.

* One inch less width across the back of the seat.

* The front tapers more dramatically, allowing your legs to get closer to the center line of the bike when you put your feet down.

* Stiffer foam

* Does not allow as much difference between the high and low settings due to a shorter "reach" of the bar on the bottom.

* Changed from a grained vinyl to smooth vinyl.
