Hi guys, I've seen posts regarding the ebc rotors, some good, some bad. Any other brand of rotor that works to eliminate the annoying squeeling brake issue? BMW wants $400 for the new re-designed rotor. Thanks for any input

One of my biggest complaints on our 99LT purchase was the rear brake squeal. It was almost as bad as anything I had heard previously. The front brakes did not feel smooth and slightly pulsated when you slowly braked, using the front only, and also has some squeal.

I watched the PS service DVD's, and ALMOST decided to change the pads myself.

Thankfully I didn't. The dealer took care of the front after my third complaint (no warranty was expressed other than a verbal, we will take care of any safety issues on the purchase of this well used 99LT), and installed new EBC pads front and rear, and that was the end of our squeal and any other brake complaint. A good thing too, as I would have incurred more expense for the kit needed for the small pins, which were $20 something for each brake.

I just got my rotor replaced last week on my 05lt. I was a little over the 36,000 make and I was getting sick of the cowbell sound. I luckily got it change under warranty. He put in a redesigned BMW one. I figured I didn't have to pay for it and if it goes again I'll purchase the EBC disc.

Put the EBC disc on (<$200). No more squealing.

My EBC squealed, but only when 1-up. Dealer put new Dunlop pads on the back. No squealing yet, but I only have 100 or so miles on them. The squealing usually takes a while to start, even with new BMW pads.
