With a relaxed grip, put yourself in fighter pilot mode and you will have a blast. Take your anonymous book as an insurance policy. Head up, and look where you want to go. Have a great trip

The best ride in the US.

Well, the Pacific Coast highway ranks right up there...;)

Don't miss the Moki Dugway and the ferry across Lake Powell. If you can swing a couple of extra days rent a speedboat at Bullfrog and chill. :bmw:

Whew what a trip, started off great going into moab,100+ degree days, great sights, then things started getting weird. Got to Bryce next which is always awesome then woke up to a cold rainey/snow mixed ride to Zion.Did Capitol Reef,Boulder Canyon, Also hit Ceder Break which just opened that morning and caught a glimps of the sights before fog, snow, hail set in..then more cold rain to the North rim of the Grand Canyon, my friends were staying there, myself and another friend at the Kaibab lodge. While we wanted to see the North Rim it started to snow pretty hard so we headed back to kaibab, 25 degrees for 20 miles, snow covered the shields, colder than my ex mother in law but made it. Woke up to 4"s of snow. Since they were expecting another 18 inches we got out of Dodge quickly to spend the night at Cameron. Went up the south rim and got hammered with snow again. Headed to Durango next to spend the night and ate dinner at the Red Snapper(very good) with some other friends. Went to have breakfast with these same people Sunday morning, great location in the woods just east of Durango. Well they live on a gravel/dirt road mix. Everything went well until we leave. Turn the bike up hill ok,give it some gas,let the clutch smoothly and holy c*** the rear end kicks out, by the time I get some control I'm in a ditch and getting tossed by the light tank. Good thing there was about 6 people to give me a hand to pull it out. The only damage is some scratches on the underside of my left saddle bag and a bruised ego. This is my first drop since I started riding in 97. Well brushed myself off and headed home via Wolf creek pass and 285. 2157 miles and the LT took everything I could throw at it and it did great, weather, twisties, comfort(the seats got to go),gas mileage. Even thou the weather soured some aspects of the trip and my error it still was a great trip. It's always good to ride. :)

Sounds like a great trip except for a little weather and hill challenge. We did that area of the country in a huge motor home several years back and I didn't get much of a chance to really see the country as I had to drive. Only got to look out through the big windshield!

Wished it could have been on the bike. We were on the rim of the canyon one hot sunny summer morning with frost on the ground and the temp reading around 30 some degrees. Hiked down to the oasis area and the temp read over 100. Amazing change in temperature. Wow, you sure hit the snow.

Wow, thanks for posting that. It sounds like fun, even with the snow part.

Sounds typical of the higher elevations out west. I'm suprised a guy from Colorado wasn't ready for it. I've seen snow in June in those elevations.

I did that ride last year in the middle of June. We also hit snow outside of Bryce. Overall, sounds like you had a great ride with memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks for sharing.

That is some of my most favorite riding and scenery in the entire country. Enjoy!

I hear you about weird weather in Colorado but last year, starting a couple days earlier we did an almost identical trip and the weather was perfect. I used a half helmet even thou I had my Schubert with me also during the whole trip. Well here's a word to the wise, use a full face. I used 30 spf lotion and chapstick and still my lips, face and nose are toast, I had to run to Flagstaff to get a cheap HJC just to keep myself out of the wind, snow, rain and whatever it is i got nailed with. Back in 2002 I did a trip to Canada on my Valkyrie and used a shorty helmet and swore I would never do that again. I can be a stubborn dumb a** sometimes. Next time I will bring my thermal liner and a full face. :o

I drove out to Utah on a Goldwing about 4 years ago and did the exact same series of stops. I drove from Ottawa Ontario and back via the Blue Ridge Parkway. It took a month and was the trip of a lifetime. My wife will not get on the bike so this Fall we are taking a bus tour so she can see it. Everyone should see that scenery and drive the Alberta Icefields Parkway between Jasper and Banff before they die.
