I am going to replace the usless stock seat on my '06 LT very soon and am considering a Corbin. I have a Corbin seat on my '75 GL1000 and really like it. They are absolutely the hardest seat I have ever sat on, but very comfortable, at least on my GL1000. I would love to hear from anyone that has had one on their LT. Thanks.

I had Corbins on my last six Goldwings, then put one on my H-D Ultra Classic, so when I got my LT that was one of the first changes. Made the bike comfortable for long trips, but you have to have long legs to go with their standard seat, if not go for the lower seat. The seat is just a tad wider than the stock seat so reaching the ground could be a problem with short legs.
I recently got off the LT and went back to an H-D Ultra and guess what, I went with the Corbin seat again. Most comfortable seat ever made for all brands, bar none. Their customer service is fantastic, unlike some of the other seats you will hear about here, and they ship out the stuff right away.
If there is a problem a phone call gets a new seat on the way and you ship the problem seat back in the box along with the return label they send you. I know because I am going through that right now. The seat was a little too short and didn't fit up around the tank, so they are sending me a new seat. Bad part is I just put 5000 miles on it and had it broken in during a long trip, so will have to break in a new one...the only bad thing about a Corbin is the first couple of thousand miles, but once it is broken in they are Ahhhhhhhh.

Some love them, some don't. No single saddle design is likely to fit everyone's anatomy.

True! Some swear by Corbins and some swear at them. I have had very good luck with Russell Day Long and Rick Mayer custom-fitted saddles. Both use standard seat pans and are considerably lighter than Corbins, generally speaking.

I put one on my 2000 and I hated it to death. What a horrible design. When you put your feet on the ground the side edge would cut into the inside of your thigh. Their interpretation of a backrest was poor as well. Stock saddle and a backup backrest is about 150x better IMO, but as another poster mentioned, saddles are completely an individual opinion. I sat on a day long saddle and wow, I was impressed with how comfy it seemed. I never put any miles on one but it seemed like I could go all day. They dont look the greatest, but then again you aint looking at your arse while riding.

I put both a standard and LOW model on my 05 LT and loved them.
Much wider than the stock seat. Way more comfortable than the Russell I had on the LT also..The 05+ Stock seat is a POS in my humble opinion.
I am currently looking for a Corbin for my VStrom!

Did the Russell Day Long saddle come with your K LT or did you have it custom built for your anatomy/weight? I ask because I have been exceedingly happy with two different Russell saddles.

Love my Corbin seat. Standard height, but I have LONG legs.
Have spent many a 12+ hour day riding before monkey butt sets in.
Did a 4800 miler over 14 days and never found myself not wanting to mount up and ride day after day !!

I wear a one piece Aerostitch, bought a Corbin to replace stock seat, wanted to give it a try. After riding aprox. 150 miles could not wait to get home and take it off. Boy was it slippery,my butt slid all over the seat. the Aerostitch and corbin arn't campatable.

When I hear the name Corbin, I immediately think of a concrete park bench. I've tried 2 and hated them both. I'm in the process of getting a Kontour seat because of the heat here............

Corbin seats are a Love Hate thing. You either love them or you hate them. if you were comfortable on one on your other bike you will probably be comfortable on one on an LT. I tried a custom Rick Meyer seat, for about 40k after the stock seat squished out. It was Ok but not great. Went with a corbin which I can sit in from Daytona to NE Pennsylvania straight through, I've done this several times. Now have 142k on the Lt and the seat is still comfortable. I also have a corbin on my GS, and like it on that also.

I currently have a Russel day long. I did try a Corbin. Thanks to the classifieds I was able to try with out going new.
My thoughts on each one. All seats were heated.
I am 5'9" 235 lbs 32 in inseam and a normal sized buttocks for reference. I will not post a picture of my anatomy for reference.
OEM OK with a sheep skin a like Alaska leather's My over all rating a 6 or 7 with sheepskin
Corbin felt like I was in a big spoon. slide all over in seat like a carnival ride. Tough at the stop lite. tippy toes and sharp feeling on my inner part of legs. in heavy traffic that was bad. On a good note on long hauls pretty good. Rating 6 For a big tall person 6' or more with a larger back end it would be a good choice.
Russel: Firm but soft. Mine has a increased back wall thickness about double of the OEM. It does provide a bit more back support than OEM My seat kind of locks me in place, but allows me to slide forward a bit so when in the twisties I can "ride" the bike. I still use the sheep skin on hot days. Rating a 9+ I would prefer to have it fitted next time around.
I can provide pics if you like of both OEM & Russel
I bought & sold all seats used off this web site.
I had a Corbin on my 1982 R100RT That was a great set up, good support and comfort. Totally different on the LT
Final thought. Hook up with a fellow LTer who has a different saddle and ask to try it out. Or go to a rally and seek some one out who has something different. Most LT'ers I have met seem wiling to help.
Hope this helps

Your Butt May Vary.
See if you can try out. I would even go for losing some cash on the deal and buy different brands - then sell, if not comfortable. You will, presumably, have the bike a few years and put on thousands of miles. Isn't your comfort (per day/mile) worth some investment?
Now, from my experience: I had a Corbin seat on the LT. Hated it, now have a Russel. Great.
On my recently-departed K1200RS I had a Corbin once, too. Did not fit, either. Wound up with a Sargent for six trouble-free years.
In both cases, the Corbin seat was forcing my butt into an uncomfortable position/tilt.
On my GS I installed a Sargent seat as well. I like it so far, although it is too early to tell for sure: less than 2K miles since I bought the bike.

It seems to me that Corbin either gets it right for a certain model, or they don't. I had one of the Yamaha/Corbin seats on my FJR. Horrible pos.... Low, tilted down in the back, slippery, hard, the worst "premium" seat ever made. I sat on a used Corbin on a local LT, and decided it's not going to fly for me. I've had a Russell on the RT, and it was far-and-away better than the stocker or a Corbin.
Your bottom may vary.......
all the best,
Mike

My only experience with Corbin was for my '96 K1100 LT. It was like sitting on a log...the only more uncomfortable seat is an original equipment BMW seat. I like firm, but geez, that thing just seemed to have support in all the wrong places (5'8"- 165 lbs). I replaced it with a Russell Day Long- outstanding. One caution, though. Not sure if you have a regular pillion rider, but while the Russell was very comfortable for me, my SO hated it. I ended up selling the bike (not related to the seat), so I never changed it. But, remember when mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

I put a Cobin seat on my 02 but did not experience any difference in new vs BMW original. Then ordered a Rick Mayer seat and You would think that someone gave Rick the ultimate blueprint for comfort seat. Just my 2$.
