I have a weird problem with the new autocom and the SPIII.
When the SP3 is plugged in any of the jacks I get a hum almost like a ground loop when the unit outputs sound. I have it connected through the Garmin power cable that came with the unit. I modified it so the power is plugged into the Centek and then installed a mini jack on the coax. I ohmed it out and all and checked it with other equipment and it worked with those. I also tried the supplied cables from Autocom as well to no avail.
The SP3 will work (sound normal) when I plug it into the mini powered speakers from my old computer.
I have checked all the inputs to the Autocom with different cables and my MP3 player and they all function normally.
It kind of sounds like an impedance mis match to me. Does anyone know if the output jack on the bottom corner of the SP3 can be used this way or do I need the other power cable that uses all 4 pins (2 power, and 2 sound)?
Thank you for all your help.
