I have a new 02 sensor arriving today from Beemerboneyard.
Need to run out and buy a crows foot so I can torque the new one in.
anybody know what size it is?

Auto O2 sensors are 7/8" (no reason to think the LT's is different) and they always come with the proper anti-sieze on the threads. NEVER get the anti-sieze on the sensor end, it will contaminate it.

How do you know when you need a new sensor?
what are the symptoms?

I had to remove mine several years ago when I replaced the stock pipe with a Remus and I don't recall having to heat it to remove. I also don't recall any anti-seize for the threads. I just remember it being a PITA to remove and replace because of it's location.
Guess I have the same question. How do you know it needs to be replaced?

only reason I can think of is poor fuel economy, it senses O2 levels in the exhaust, the computer then adjusts fuel mixture if you have bad fuel economy this would be one of the first places to look for a problem but, I'm no expert :)

I made a list of LT years, mpg, location.
and found that I'm really on the low side in mpg.
Now, I am pulling an extra 350 lbs with the trike but 30-35 seems way too low for an '03. hell, we have an old Ford Escort that gets 37........
and I hear people saying their mileage improved after changing the sensor.
and since we're heading out next month on another "big ride" (9000 miles),
I thought the extra dollars for the sensor were justified if I could improve mileage...........
It's an experiment ......

A faulty sensor will show an error when connected to the computer.

well,...The old one was covered w/ carbon so I've been running rich.
I bough a 22mm crowsfoot so I could get at that sucker (and be able to retorque it)and being made in China, it was cast but never machined. So I spent a few minutes w/ a file dressing it down to fit 22mm....
a nice tight fit....but still took a breaker bar to break it loose.
Did come w/ anti-sieze already on the threads.
An initial ride around town gave me a 37 mpg reading......so I'm expecting big things out on the road. (this is already higher than I ever got except at 6,000 ft, coming down on an 80 degree day)...............
