Is this a feature or a farkle? On my 2005 they turn themselves off after 15 seconds. I've found that the original owner did a lot of work and an excellent job adding things. I'm just trying to figure out everything that HE did compared to standard.

They are an original feature. I think that they cancel based upon distance traveled rather than time. Mine will stay on forever if stopped.

It is a combination of speed and number of flashes. I have found if you are above 30 MPH you will get 13 flashes, so on long turn lanes I have to re-activate it. Below that speed I believe it stays on until you cancel (haven't tested that).

I haven't heard this one in a long time! Mine usually stay on for approximately 2 tenths of a mile.

I have not figured out the self canceling on the LT. There is not rhyme or reason to when they actually self cancel. This is the only feature Harley did a better job then BMW. The signals on my HD work great.

g seem to remember BMW made them flash per a 'program'

1. They flash a certain number of times 'at speed'
2. They flash a certain number of seconds below that speed
3. If stopped, they flash until until the bike has rolled forward a particular distance
