I'm touring from DC to Cal via Rt 66. I have been on the road for a week and cannot get the CB working.

I can hear incoming signal and when I press the PTT button the signal strenght indicator goes all the way up like 5 bars, but even other bike within 10 ft of me cannot hear me. Also when I tune in the weather radio channels they are VERY weak but the weather radio in the com system is loud and strong?

Any thoughts. I have checked all the connections in the helmet and the cable down to where it goes into the tupperware.. I know the mic was working when I had the system on my old helmet but on the new one nothing?

Any thoughts for checking it while on the road??

Mike.. there are folks who have the bikes in their garage and can't fix the CB... (Communication Blank)...

The only way to "know" if the radio is putting out is to put an SWR meter with external antenna or similar nearby... to check for the signal.

Stop by a Radio Shack. Ask if they have one... ask them to demo it to you...

The other way is to connect the SWR meter in the antenna cable... that will require removing parts from the LT.

Offhand, I'd suggest you verify the antenna is "tight"...

Good luck

Good suggestions Channing. Since he is traveling, he might stop at a truck stop. Some have CB shops on premises and others can direct him to one. Some of these guys are good. <g>
