Greetings All,

The owner's manual on my '08 RT says to put the bike on the center stand, wait five minutes and check the site glass ("Bubble") for proper oil level. No biggie. The other bit of info said that there is a .5 liter (approximately .5 quart) difference between the top and bottom mark on the side glass. Correct my arithmetic please, but doesn't that equate to 16 ounces-ish of oil? Thanks for your time.

Cheers

Yes your reading and math are both good- at least close enough...

Now for the real answer. I keep the oil at about 7/8ths so I can actually see a clear spot above the oil level- to be sure I do not over fill.

What most guys do is, after a ride, put her on the side stand for the 5 minutes, then center stand, give it another 5 minutes to settle then check.

If you have a newish bike it will consume oil... will begin to break in at about 20,000 miles.
