Today I wanted to go for a good ride up the mountains to a ski resort.
Coming half way I had to stop for some road work  and I was sitting there with the engine on idle and about 25 minutes. temperature was 52 F.
Then when I was riding on I noticed that the temperature gauge showed it to be more then half way over the middle line towards the white just before the red. It came down again as soon as I started driving. :) Is it common that it get to overheat or would It have stopped before the red line?

Secondly after learning about the ovrheating I did not want to go on risk the same happening again but this time even further from civilization, so I turned around and went home. Just before I came home I met my biggest scare...OIL on the road! And ended in the midst of it and as I did I hit the brakes to try to stop before it but could not, but and I say BUT then the ABS surely gave me a controlled ride thrue the spillage and even if the back of the bike started skidding (and I started to braise myself from falling and big $$$$) then I was out of it without falling, so all I have to say on that is THANK YOU ABS brake system :))) Love it! :)

When stopped in traffic, the water temp guage will get almost entirely up to the red. Should stop just short, and then the fans kick in. This is normal, and you have no worries.
